Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
We always insist on isolating Deng in the post though. Bosh isn't wrong on the back-to-the-basket game being largely dead in today's NBA but it doesn't quite ring true when Wade (who generally makes good use of his post-ups) and Deng (who doesn't) always have these drawn out post-up sequences.

Whenever I read comments from Bosh it seems like he's jealous. I wonder if Whiteside even can develop to the next level in a team like ours. I think our style doesn't get the best out of anyone on the team but Wade, which seems like a bad idea given his age.

But is it our "style" or just the fit?
Can something in this world make Dragic/Wade/Deng/Bosh/Whiteside/Winslow a good consistent offensive team?

Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
At some point you have to ask yourself this (and that point might only come after the playoffs) -
REGARDLESS of how good Whiteside is/can be - Will this team with him in it making Max money improve enough to contend? Will it be able to have an above average offense?
It doesn't matter if it's "his fault", the coach's fault, or the fit fault. The bottom line is the same - this core isn't looking like it's capable to be good enough together, especially on offense.
For example - If I have a team featuring David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Hakeem and Shaq - and one spot left, I would take Uncle Beno over Dwight Howard for that final open spot. That doesn't Mean Beno is a better player then Dwight, but he will fill my needs for the spot better then Dwight.
I feel we might have a similar situation with Hassan.
Wade - Can't and shouldn't be moved - too much history.
Bosh - Can't be moved - Both history and just our best player overall
Dragic - Can't be moved - simply because there's not a better fitting PG out there we could get.
SF : Deng will probably get moved, But the true upgrades there (Batum, Barnes) will be out of our price range if we Keep Whiteside on Max money.
So Hassan might be the best player we can have for our money this summer, but it also might be a situation where a lesser player will make us better because we'll click better as a team. (or at least that would be the hope, if you subscribe to the "change it up" thinking, which I'm not sure I am at this point).
I believe he was healthy tonight to play big minutes, But Spo benched him for the second half anyway.
YOU SIMPLY CAN'T HAVE A MAX MONEY PLAYER GET "DIDNT PLAY - COACH DECISION". IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
Very tough spot to be in if you're Pat Riley.

Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
With the same thinking you can say - Whiteside is too good to be let go off, regardless of fit. We need to make the changes around him.
Dragic - Traded for a lesser PG, one that loves chucking 3's.
Wade - Move to a 6 man role, replaced with a SG that will space the floor.
SF : add a shooter
Bosh - doesn't have to move
Whiteside - becomes face of the team.
Or we can just wait and see how we look in the playoffs. That will probably be the smart thing to do
Just very frustrating to See Hassan go from Hero to Zero on a nightly basis. I'm Not sure What Spo sees in him, good or bad. Did the players want to see him out there in the 4th? IDN.
If he's our max player next year, you would expect our veteran players to want him out there with them today too, no?

Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
Dragic can stay
Bosh can stay
Whiteside can stay
Wade is one of our big problems. Can't give him another big contract. Either he accepts a much lesser contract with a lesser role on the team (6man) or let him go.
Deng is a problem which will either resolve its self in a trade of simply let walk in off season.
Mcbob is a problem. Needs to be traded asap idc if it's for a second round pick
Amare Green doesn't matter they are replaceable with other vet mins.
At the end of the day (for the next 4-6 years) none of this matters until a major injury hits the Warriors. If they stay healthy I don't see any team we can build that can contend with them either way.

Let's build a team that can possibly beat them for sh*ts and giggles. Or better yet to get an idea of what it would take an how unrealistic it is.
Westbrook
Wade
Durant
Bosh
Whiteside
I think we still lose lol

Wait, Wade is Beta now?
The consensus till now was that Spo is too afraid to confront Wade, and Wade gets everything he want (rightfully or not - doesn't matter).
So it's either :
1.Spo does whatever he wants, ignoring the request of Wade and Bosh to play more minutes next to Hassan in a game like today. (where the Clippers didn't even play small, Jordan played 35 minutes).
Or
2. Spo does listen to what Wade and Bosh has to say, But Wade and Bosh simply don't push Spo to play Hassan more. In that case you ask yourself, why aren't they? What do they see?

Wade on the bench is an interesting look for this team. Of course he's still our best player but it opens up a spot for a player that's easier to fit in with instead of finding a player that can fit with Wade (not so easy). Would help out our bench a lot but open up a hole at SG on the starting line-up with a already shaky situation at the 3. If push comes to shove then starting Beno at the 1, Goran at the 2 and either Deng/Winslow at the 3 might be our best alt. line-up. Or our 4 guards, being our "shooters" Beno/Dragic/Green/Deng and one big, Hassan/Bosh. Regardless a sticky situation but potentially not helpless... Our best options seem to be either finding a great fit next to Wade or breaking up our starters for better fit, like collectively amazing poster Bishop45's previously eluded to
I just don't know if benching our highest impact player for fit is completely worth the gamble but maybe he could be our Igouldala lol but lets be serious, Spo would bench himself into the bleachers before benching Wade

You're probably not the only one thinking it, but I can tell you I'm not one who shares the same view. I can see a case for the next game or two, but once he's shown that he's healthy enough to be playing 30+ minutes again, then he should go back into the starting line-up. We need to get as many minutes with him and the rest of the core together before the playoffs.
I think we're noticing a trend where Whiteside is beasting the most in games where he's not playing huge minutes. Might be a mental hunger thing, could be energy, conditioning, or teams less prepared for him.
Whatever it is, It's better to see him give 110% effort in 27 minutes like last night then him going easy because of fouls/energy for 36 minutes.
Also I really like his quote about changing shots, It's great to see he's understanding his impact doesn't have to be actually blocking a shot, he did tend to chase the block and sacrifice the overall defensive play in the past. Hoping he now gets that a huge part of his impact is just being a deterrence, you will always be a bigger factor with the overall shots you COULD block then the shots you actually block. picking your spots is a skill that comes with more experience.
Doc Rivers also just stated how Whiteside off the bench makes our second unit tough. He also said players such as Mchale came off the bench but played big minutes. So coming off the bench doesn't necessarily equate to less mins.
I think we stick w/ what's been working so far, regardless of the loss today against the Clips. I'm not saying Hassan should no longer start but adjustments are always good if it's showing positive results.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Wade would defer to a Westbrook or a Durant and take a lesser role, but not a Dragic... hell ******* no.
