Re: The Trade Thread (Booker is UNTOUCHABLE so dont even ask!)
Here is the situation as I see it (Markieff value). You got two groups of people and organizations that the Suns lean on (or any organization). The first group, You got hardcore fans (us as an example) who know this roster inside and out. While we disagree here and there with the talent at each position we understand the "basketball" part of this trade. We want to get the best value "talent wise" as we can get for Markieff. We represent a small population of the fan base. To be honest we are the least important people to the Suns organization (weird I know). We are the ones who are a little too smart about basketball than the Suns like. We sorta know a lot and watch each game to no end. We know each players weaknesses and can't be fooled. But again, our importance to the FO isn't high because we aren't the real money makers for the Suns. The majority of profit comes from the second group.
The second group are the sponsors, businesses, businessmen, government officials, and casual fans. Which represent the most important people to the Suns organization. That's where the money comes from the most. That's where the pressure comes from to rid themselves of Markieff. The basketball part is probably the least important to them. Their money goes to the Suns (and is the majority of the Suns income). Casual fans are the ones that support"winning teams" otherwise called bandwagon fans (and make up a large portion of the population). And the businessmen and sponsors, who want to be seen with a winning organization. Basically they want no part of this Markieff situation. They honestly could care less about what Keiff brings to the court. They care more about what Kieff brings off the court. And the rich people aren't going to come or be associated with the Suns (with the exception of our beloved Cardinals players) as long as there is bad press associated with the Suns. That lack of money coming in from this group is the killer.
So all that said, Suns absolutely have to rid Markieff regardless of the return because the second group is way more important (to the Suns) than us in the first group.

On the surface, seems to me like he was the glue that lead the Eastern champion Hawks to the Conference finals last year. They retained their 4 all stars yet are struggling mightily this year. Could have been a contract year but one could also argue he's twice the player PJ is at twice the salary. We desperately need a SF upgrade and if be ok with a young proven vet with playoff experience (provided is injuries aren't ongoing).
Also, how much do you think PJ will command this offseason? With the rising cap you can expect he'll get a raise. Maybe not Knight/ Carroll money, but more than the $5.5m he's currently on. My guess is Frye money - around $8m per.
Oh boy, I want to see you make the argument that DeMarre Carroll is worth his contract and that he's twice the player PJ is.
EDIT: Also, he's only 1 year younger than PJ, and has been in the league longer......
SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

While I agree, shouldn't that mean he's gone by now? Why is he still here?

PJ can't command anything this offseason Nev, he is signed through next season. I guess it will depend on what he does next year to see what he may be worth the following season. His contract isn't fully guanteed though, so I guess if either us, or if he gets traded decides to let him go, then he could be a FA. But $5mil isn't a big contract for the heart and effort he gives with the cap going up.

It may be for Ersan. I don't care.
You don't make sense. You want to trade him for nothing? Why? To save the season? Losing is the path to future success. Ingrim or Simmons helps us more than any other option at this point. Just hang on and trade Markieff in the summer if the value isn't right. I'm glad you are not running the team.
How much longer Suns should wait? His value will not go up. He just had few good games and screw it all by Archie incident. On GB everybody thinks he is team cancer. We will not get good offer for him now and we will not get good offer for him in the summer. 2nd round pick and expiring is the best we could probably get for him. He is not talented enough for other teams to take the risk. He is a psycho with f'ed brain. His problems are beyond just not wanting to play here.

JDLAW? You're so right. Wish he'd come back ...but can't blame him for not.
Dirty Bird? It's been what? 6 years since he last chirped. A true insider.
Guessing Traxxe and Ray Ray will show up shortly after Woj or Stein etc spill the first juicy Suns trade rumor. They'll then color it into their own special "insider" tone.

I exchanged a couple of PMs with JDLAW in early January. I wish he would come back and post more too.

The NBA office probably has a standing rule out to all the teams not to go foward with any trades until after the allstar game as to not take any focus off thier special weekend!!

According to a radio show in Orlando, Chicago offered Jimmy Butler for Oladipo, a 1st rounder and an unnamed player.
If that's the asking price, I'm sure the Suns could put together a comparative offer including our 1st rounder this year and either Knight or Bledsoe.

They're doing poorly, Derrick Rose hates him, and some of his teammates aren't too fond of him (they think he's changed since becoming the star of the team.)

Bulls need to trade Rose or move him as 6th man.
Butler being hated by his team mates is news to me.
He is a good player and they go through him alot.

Wow. If that is true, I would trade for him and play him at the small forward spot. He is 6'7" so he should be fine there. Him and Booker starting together sounds awesome. I would not give up the Suns 2016 first round pick though. If the Bulls actually want to get rid of him, I would give them Knight, Markieff, and another pick besides the Suns pick or a similar package. I still find it hard to believe they want to get rid of him.

Only 1.5 of PJ's money is guaranteed for next year as long as he is waived on or before 6/30/2016 I believe.
