Magic Turn down deal for Jimmy Butler

Post#1 » by Bigmagicfan82 » Fri Feb 12, 2016 8:27 pm

Did anyone else see this report that Orlando turned down a deal for Jimmy Butler? According to OMD it was Oladipo, 1st, and another player. It came in my teamstream for Bleacher Report.

Potential to be too much depending on who the second player is. It had to have been either AG or Mario.

How about this trade:

Orlando:
Victor Oladipo
Tobias Harris
Evan Fornier
1st round pick

Bulls:
Jimmy Butler
Taj Gibson
Doug McDermott

That's a deal, that, in my opinon, makes both teams better. I can see them being open to including Taj, but McBuckets might be too much to ask for.

Why the hell would the Bulls be trying to trade Butler? that makes zero sense.

There is no way this is true. No possible way. I will lose all faith in Hennigan if this actually happened.

Just ask yourself - why in the name of God would Chicago trade Butler for Oladipo? It just makes zero sense.

If true then that stings for me i love Butler, he is tough.... Savage even, just the type of player we need. Seems like a leader as well, shame.... would love to know who was in deal.

Something to consider when comparing Jimmy Butler to our current guys....

Player W 3 Year Span...
1. 5.3 Pts, 0.9 Reb, 1.2 Ast, 49% FG, 40% 3PT
2. 8.4 Pts, 2.7 Reb, 1.5 Ast, 42% FG, 38% 3PT
3. 12.0 Pts, 2.6 Reb, 2.1 Ast, 44% FG, 38% 3PT

Player X 3 Year Span...
1: 2.6 Pts, 1.3 Reb, .3 Ast, 40% FG, 18% 3PT
2: 8.6 Pts, 4.0 Reb, 1.4 Ast, 47% FG, 38% 3 PT
3: 13.1 Pts, 4.9 Reb, 2.6 Ast, 40% FG, 28% 3PT

Player Y 3 Year Span...
1. 13.8 Pts, 4.1 Reb, 4.1 Ast, 42% FG, 33% 3PT
2. 17.9 PPG, 4.2 Reb, 4.1 Ast, 44 FG%, 34% 3PT
3. 14.3 Pts, 4.6 Reb, 4.0 Ast, 42% FG, 35% 3 PT

Player Z 3 Year Span...
1. 14.6 Pts, 7.0 Reb, 1.3 Ast, 46% FG, 25% 3PT
2. 17.1 Pts, 6.3 Reb, 1.8 Reb, 47% FG, 36% 3PT
3. 13.7 Pts, 7.0 Reb, 2.0 Ast, 46% FG, 31% 3PT

One is Jimmy Butler...the other three reside on our roster. Who can solve the equation without being the lame guy who goes and looks it up?

X: Buttler
Y: Dipo
Z: Harris? i doubt it so bad cause he was buried on the bench in MIL :banghead:

I know X = Butler, because I've seen his numbers a lot before.

W = Fournier (3pt% gives it away)
Y = Oladipo (assists give it away)
Z = Harris (rebounds give it away)

The difference in numbers, though, is that Butler wasn't given a chance to be "the man" until his 4th year. When he was, his team still won games. Harris and Oladipo have had that chance, but we lost games.

Just ask yourself - why in the name of God would Chicago trade Butler for Oladipo? It just makes zero sense.

As has been mentioned in other threads and in this thread, we have no idea who the second player was. The price could have been too high, if it included AG or even Hezonja.

Why is that player such a mystery though? That's what doesn't make sense about the rumour. Someone leaks this info, but they conveniently can't explain who the other player is? Surely they could have said something generic, like "one of x,y,z".

I don't believe it. Mostly because Henny doesn't let this stuff out of the traps.

I tend to agree, but it's not impossible someone on the Chicago side leaked it.

Well if you line up the salaries it could not be either one. It would have to have been a player like Vuc. Just simple math.

In which case you'd have to imagine Oladipo is the prize of the deal. Unless they're trying to bury the player they really want under him and the "1st round pick" assumed value?

We'll give you Butler for Oladipo and your 1st... And you can just chuck in Hezonja since you don't use him much. Deal?
