I need to get back to reading this board on the reg. There has been something missing in my Wizard intakes of late; intelligent, informed, and rational takes on the team. This thread did not disappoint.
This team too closely resembles EGs previous work in NY, MIL and even the Gil years. He's proven time and again he has no vision other than competing to be first round fodder and making that $$. If he isn't gone soon it's time to start placing a lot more blame on Ted himself.

A what point in this season should we abandon hope that Randy and Ernie will be swept-out? Other teams are out there looking at trade options, the Nets are narrowing-down their GM search. Can you see Ted riding this out and making no changes?

i think they are getting let go its just that I think ted is so soft that he wants to make it appear to be a mutual departing instead of a firing

so instead of saying ernie did a bad job and firing him now so his new GM has the best chance to do a good job he'll wait until the end of the season and both parties will decide to "part ways"

same with randy

Getting rid of EG and hiring Ferry would be fine by me. But then again getting rid of EG and hiring Gee Wiz would also be fine by me.

John Wall is the most talented Wizard in quite a while. Among Ernie Grunfeld's basketball sins, he is now officially wasting John Wall's prime. As the owner, Ted is complicit in this...

Something to remember when you look at our lack of depth.

Instant upgrade. He may be a little racist but he can assemble talent. Oh and of course he has local ties..

Ferry's father, Bob Ferry, is a former Balt. Bullet player and he was GM of the Wash. Bullets. Danny attended DeMatha HS.

I kind of doubt Danny Ferry will be getting another GM job in the NBA any time soon. Given his reputation as a bully, I sure don't want him here.

I think Ferry might be a gm again someday, but I don't think it is likely to be with the Wizards next year. I think the racist comments are still too fresh for him to get a top profile position right now, especially with Leonsis, who tends to error on the side of caution when it comes to well-known character issues.

I am personally more intrigued by Troy Weaver or open to other another candidates.

Anyone care to rate Ernie's GM skills in light of the Morris trade?

The "grading the deal article" on the Suns side:

To get a First Round pick of any sort is terrific value.

This means quite clearly that EG was overpaying.

Maybe the Wizards are caught in a web of blackmail. EG having incriminating evidence on Ted is the only reason I can think that he would still be employed. Given how easily EG has given picks to the Suns, I think someone there may have something on EG.

What a deal for the Suns, they unload a player nobody wanted for expirings AND they get mid first-rounder from us. Former Suns East.
