It won't happen today

maybe tomorrow or Tuesday - NBA frowns upon trades for the ASG

32 posts. Seems legit.

he has never lied before 8-)

with the injuries to contenders (chi/mem), plus some poor play (hou/atl/wash) and the ever looming opportunistic asset laden ainge.... some deals almost have to shake down in the next few days. Where do we fit in?

Im anticipating a minor mirza deal....may be lauer too.... and.... if McDiscard can relieve us of MoBro, I'll wipe the slate clean with the 'inexperienced' eraser. Chalk it all up as the necessary learning curve. No hall passes from here out tho.

We are/will be where we are. Forwaaaard march

Until I see something on Twitter about a trade it ain't so. Nowadays people have a hard time keeping stuff on a down low. It almost always leaks. Kinda the reason I started using Twitter. Always info on Twitter before it actually comes out.

Buuuutttt would be good news to see Qeiff gone.

Is it really "big" news or is it just Kieff traded?

Its so depressing that it has come down to this. Ridding ourselves of this petulant manchild is all we have to look forward to until the lottery in May. Highlight of the season

I haven't been here in a while... But from what I can gather...

Suns are indeed in serious trade talks with an eastern conference team..

Keif and a couple other pieces for a young player.. Not sure who or what yet. Once I do, I'll let you know

so let me get this straight.... outside of a Bledsoe injury, isn't that 'NOTHING else' largely based on what potential we may have in a few youngsters, and a handful of draft picks? I can handle optimism, but you at least have to acknowledge that mistakes have been made that are equally hard to measure.

McDotheRightThingsortof has said so himself.

NavLDO wrote:McD has an eye for talent, but needs to learn more about putting pieces together and showing some 'love' to the players.

NavLDO wrote:I just think there is WAY too much hate for a GM who's been a GM for all of 2.5 years. Yes, he's made mistakes, but at least he has been engaged and has tried to make deals he felt would be beneficial.

And Frank, HOW many times have I said this

NavLDO wrote:...then fine, I'll be on board the fire McD train, begrudgingly, because ultimately, I think a GM should be given 5 years to build 'his' team and see his vision to fruition.

...or this...

NavLDO wrote:Again, no one is trying to portray McD as a 'people person' or the best GM to ever bless the NBA, only that again, he has done more good than harm to this team.

So I ask, Frank, respectfully, that you don't paint me as some 'blind homer' who feels McD can do no wrong. You are more of a 'hater' than I am a 'homer'.

So, I'll say it AGAIN, as I've said AT LEAST a dozen times over the past 6 months, McD is NOT perfect; he HAS made mistakes. And AGAIN, my view on McD is to give him a 5 years window to make us competitive, as it takes at least 3 years to develop young '1 and Done'rs'. That's it. That's my opinion. I have NEVER said McD is perfect, or the best GM, or even a GREAT GM; just that he's young, been a GM for 2.5 years, and deserves more respect and patience than he's been given on this forum.

So honestly, do you feel the Suns are in a worse position than they were when he took the helm?

Do you feel a brand new GM should have his team as a competitive Playoff squad by the end of his 3rd year?

Do you think McD has made these decisions in a vacuum? With no input or, let's call it, euphemistically, 'guidance' from Sarver?

Do you think trading Kieff the past two weeks, or the next 3-4 days will net him as good as value as Kieff will get in the last 24-48 hours of the trade deadline? Would that have helped this team?

Do you honestly feel that McD wants us to play better than we are at this point? Do you honestly believe we couldn't be, say, 21-33 to 23-31, instead of 14-40 right now, had he made some small improvements to the roster, at the expense of rookie playing time, or heck, even trading one of our rookies?

I'll answer some for you:

Do I think McD made a mistake in trading for IT? Yes and no, it was a good business move that netted us more than before we had him; that fact cannot be denied. But did he take into account how that might make Dragic or Bledsoe feel? No, he didn't, and that was his flaw in that deal.

Do I think McD made a mistake in signing Chandler? Yes, he did. I doubt he had to give Chandler that much in order to attempt what he hoped do in signing LMA. So, it was a gamble that he lost on.

Do I think he should have consulted Kieff before trading Marcus? Yes, I do, as that may have alleviated a lot of the 'hate' Kieff felt.

Do I think he should have traded Kieff over the summer? Yes, but I qualify that with the fact that I really would not have wanted to 'give' more to make it happen. What if he traded Booker in that deal, since we didn't know he would turn out this well? We'd all be 'sick' right now.

So, off the top of my head, those are some mistakes he made, but does he deserve to be fired over them? Or raked over the coals like he has been?

So, in closing, as I've stated a few times, I really enjoy the majority of your posts, and think you are one of the better and reasoned, believe it or not, posters on this forum, even if you tend to be more negative than I'd prefer. But hey, I am mostly an optimist, so I can't fault you for being more negative than I am, but again, I would hope that you understand that I really am not blind and 'rah-rah' over McD, just that I'd like to see this team after 5 years of his tenure, vice starting over right now, in the middle of his plans. I just don't think it's fair to expect him to turn around a 25-57 team in 2.5 years, even if we did have a much better than expected season his first year; all that did was foil a rebuild, and give false hope that all we needed was a re-tool.

Regardless of how 'bad' we might look right now, and one more question for you, honestly, do you think it's fair to expect a competitive (top 5 seed or better) Playoff team after 2.5 years?? When handed a team with Michael 'freaking' Beasley, Wesley Johnson, Kendall Marshall, and Shannon Brown?? If so, then I don't know what to say, other than I think that is highly unrealistic, and absolutely do NOT feel our team is really as bad as 14-40; we are 14-40 by design, after losing our top 3 options at PG to injury by mid-season.

When did Colangelo try to tank?

Sorry, should've been more specific:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10534698/tanking-talk-hot-topic-annual-sloan-conference

Bryan Colangelo revealed he wanted the 2011-12 Toronto Raptors, for whom he served as general manager, to lose.

"I tried to tank a couple years ago," Colangelo said. "And I didn't come out and say, 'Coach, you've got to lose games.' I never said that. I wanted to establish a winning tradition and a culture and all of that. But I wanted to do it in the framework of playing the young players, and with that, comes losing. There's just no way to avoid that."

Yeah this means we're getting Aaron Gordon for sure. Maybe throw in a conditional second rounder and McRae but I think thats giving up too much value

OK Nav.... i stand down on your uber optimism, yes, you have acknowledged mistakes, but you defend them with the unmeasurable predictions that his corrections will all pan out and supersede his set backs. Too many compare what former players are doing elsewhere and project them here. I don't give a crap about what Dragic is doing in Miami... I just know what he was doing here. It goes the same for Green. Don't mention theGORTAT either. We had a good team, a good foundation, and McDemolation ripped it apart.

Do i think we are better than when McD took over .... yes...
Do i think we are better than two years ago? ....no
Do i think we should be better than where we are now.... YES
Do i think we have the right GM running the show ? I don't know. For I think he has pi55ed in his own soup one too many times.

I doubt any trade gets announced today. Not on the day of the All-Star game. That would be bad form by the teams involved.
