Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
I'm guessing that deal would be Koufos for Mozgov, and to that I say heck yes. It lets the Kings get out of Koufos' deal before it's too late. Lets face it, he's nice to have but with Willie and Cuz needing minutes at C, he's got to be the odd man out. The 3 C lineup hasn't worked. Mozgov isn't nearly as fundamental but he's more athletic and most importantly he's expiring! This would give the Kings some options this summer because as of now, if they re-signed Rondo (which I'm not sure they should) then the pickings are slim as far as fixing the roster goes.

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
Saw this blurb and also that Shumpert is available.
"The aforementioned McLemore, sources say, is working with the Kings to try to find a new home via trade. Sacramento made the same pledge to veteran swingman Caron Butler as far back as December.
Word is that the Kings, who are desperate to end a playoff drought spanning nine seasons and counting before moving into a new building next season, prefer immediate help in trade talks more than future picks."
http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post/_/id/4297/trade-chatter-is-kevin-love-untouchable
I think that Moz/Shump for KK/Ben discussed on here is a good deal for both sides. But the Cavs would have to add something like a future pick or something.

Well, that was unexpected. But we can't trade him for Shumpert, because Shumpert is an even worse shooter.

I don't know about expirings
We spent assets clearing space because Koufos is an assett on his deal, especially given the rising cap.

No to expirings for me.

Koufos wasn't tearing up the FA market last summer. Unless the Kings can somehow get some of the pieces they need and a potential star in return for Rudy then the Kings have to look at maximizing as much space as they can for this summer.

He wasn't tearing it up last summer but when the cap rises to 100+, 7/8 for a decent big will hold value (too lazy to look his contract up). Oh well, it's opinion

Eh, he's not too much worse and he's a much more capable defender in Karls system. Not to mention his handling. Most importantly Shump can switch. The difference in having a 190 pound SG and a 230 pound one is a huge difference for the way the Kings want to play defensively. Shumpert is waaay overpaid, but this is the kind of problem you find yourself in when you need a 3 and D player at SG and you struck out the previous summer.
Just theorizing here, but lets say the Kings could then make a trade for someone like Beverley or Bradley moving forward at PG. You would now have lock down potential defense at PG/SG. Karl might just end up sticking around if that were the case.

A 15 mpg big making between 8-9 isn't bad by any stretch, but the problem for the Kings moving forward is the fact that they have two guys that should be eating up that time as it is. Not to mention that players like Koufos could very well get caught up in the league trend of playing smaller. Having a ton of 7 footer depth unless they are super versatile might not be the most valuable thing in the next few years. The Cavs are one of the only teams out there that you could realistically see him being a major part of their rotation if not a starter do to their need for post defense. That's Kostas gig essentially.
Right now Kosta and Willie are eating into eachothers minutes. Lately Willie has been winning the battle. KK is starting to slink down to his career averages of about 15 mpg. He's a super steady hand, but when you're roster looks like it has this year, it's time to start making some moves in the way of cleaning up some messes or at least giving yourself a chance to.
To me everyone and everything should be on the table outside of Cuz and Willie. Especially if Karl is going to stay.

I agree he is movable, but I'd like asset in return. A lot of folks can use a dependable big IMO
Should be a interesting deadline

lakers fan here. i'll fully admit that i don;t know if this is a fair trade because i haven't seen much of mclemore and i have only seen koufos before this year. would like your opinion on lou and bass for mclemore and koufos. rationale is that kosta isn't getting much burn anyway and if u need a 3rd big, bass is a quality guy and is cheaper. lou gives you perimeter scoring that you presently lack. lakers go full blown youth movement. before bashing lou and bass i'd just point out that they both have PERs over 15 this year.

What would you guys be looking for if you are to trade McLemore? I realize he's never going to be what I thought he was going to be when he was drafted but I'd love him on the Wolves.

Multi year SG contract that we like.

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
The thing about McLemore is in the right situation he could be everything he was supposed to be and maybe more. I've brought this up before, but Ben has really become a fairly well balanced player. His major weakness is his consistency, but how much of that is due to his role? He's looked dang good when a bigger piece of the offense has come his way. If the Kings are looking for return they better take into account that he's probably the only young player the Kings have had in the last decade that started out as a project and actually ended up developing a defined skill set.
Even in looking at Bens production this season, there can't be many gripes. He's shooting pretty well and doing it on decent percentages. The area that "hurts" his ratings is that he rarely goes iso so he doesn't get to the line much. With the handling he's shown this year I think that's an easy next step and once he starts getting to the line 5-6 times a game you're looking at a good number 2-3 option potentially.
The problem with the Kings and any scoring SG are still the same problems as ever. A scoring guard being an after thought in the offense is never a good thing for either side. He's following the same path as Marcus Thornton before him. He's a bit small for a SG and the Kings always seem to be a bit small at PG too. Not a good combo on a team looking to switch matchups.
So, in the end is it between he and Gay? If Gay is moved I'd rather see them hang onto Ben and give him that shot to fill in the offensive hole left behind. No matter what even if the Kings don't win any more games Ben's value will go up unless he utterly fails.

I am pretty sure you could just give us K-Mart, and we would be happy.

And most likely a veteran, and I like KMart, but no.

Honestly was wondering that. Age wise, KMart fits your team, Ben fits ours. Martin's contract is good and he has a history with your team. Aside from that, KMart is a finished product and McLemore has potential to be something else. That makes me think we'd have to sweeten the pot slightly. Im not exactly sure what that would take. I think Wolves fans would happily do a Kmart for McLemore trade even though it doesn't work on the trade checker. Any of your mid-level salaries you're looking to get rid of?
Belinelli + Ben for KMart + Andre Miller?
No idea how much you guys value Belinelli but it worked in the trade checker.

We need a better defender than KMart.
But we'd like Butler out too possibly.

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
Id agree that it does come down to Gay or Ben. It would be difficult for me to watch Ben go elsewhere and thrive. He's improved vastly since his arrival. And as above mentioned has shown his ability when given a larger role offensively. He is a relentless worker and can play off of the ball. I think the organization will regret trading him. Although, Shump would provide the defensive prowess this team needs, I'm personally hesitant because I just think Ben can be a very good player. It may be a matter of the franchise going a different direction and Ben not fitting into the current roster make up...but man when he goes somewhere else and blossoms I'm going to be heated LOL.
aNO WAY do you give him up for K-Mart. Shump at least is not a slouch offensively. Having a down year sure, but he's capable offensively. He handles the ball well, decent vision, can break guys down and make plays, and is a streaky shooter. Obviously, a high level defender and can guard 3 positions.
