Re: Simmons or Ingram for Philly?
I'm in the Ingram camp. I suspect he's still growing too. I wouldn't be surprised if his standing reach ends up being 7' 3." One reason Wiggins was supposed to be such a mismatch is because he might be a 6' 9" SG. Well, the jury is still out on that. IMO, Ingram can definitely play SG. I think the KD comparisons are fair at this point.
When Wiggins was playing at KU, he seemed disinterested at times. I also think Coach Self was more interested in getting the ball inside to Joel. Ingram always seems to have his head in the game. He does defer to Allen and Kennard for stretches but he takes his turn as the go to guy as evidenced by his outburst against Virginia. He plays with an emotional fire.
Ingram's skills translate immediately to the NBA. Simmons is also a great prospect but his reluctance/inability to shoot outside of 10 feet will hold him back from being a top 10 NBA player. Also, unless Simmons can play PG, he is not a physical mismatch at PF despite his strength. I don't see anything holding Ingram back.
Over the past three years, I rank the prospects: Embiid, KAT, Ingram, Simmons, Porzingas, Wiggins...

“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Ingram in conference play is putting up 19/8 on 47/44/72 shooting percentage on 1.42 points per shot and 60% TS%...KD put up 26/11 on 47/40/81 shooting percentages on 1.39 points per shot and 58% TS%
So Ingram is basically doing what KD did but KD just put up 5 more shots per game
The whole argument is about production, so having 20% less volume is the difference between ultra rare/elite and really good but fairly common. For comparison, Marcus Evans is putting up 20ppg as a freshman on 57% TS throughout this whole year. So saying that Ingram's the first person since KD to post such numbers is misleading, and at the very least requires like a dozen asterisks to understand.

Ingrams foot quickness is a little bit questionable to me, but his length helps to make up for it. If I'm mistaken and he's high end in foot quickness, he could be quite very special player.

Re: Simmons or Ingram for Philly?
It is clear from Ingram's play recently that he can be a big time scorer in the NBA.
I still don't even think about him if we get the first pick though.

Huh? I'm pretty high on Ingram but he's not even in the top 10 of freshmen scorers this season, let alone this decade. His 'tear' over the last couple weeks has been him scoring around 20/7, which a handful of freshman have done as well as for the whole year.
KD averaged 26/11 for the whole season, Ingram's 17/7 is a long ways from that. The case for Ingram doesn't have to do with eye-popping stats, it's more with scoring potential in a more open NBA system.
Ingram in conference play is putting up
19/8 on 47/44/72 shooting percentage on 1.42 points per shot and 60% TS% and 57% EFG%
KD put up
26/11 on 47/40/81 shooting percentages on 1.39 points per shot and 58% TS% and 53% EFG%
So Ingram is basically doing what KD did but KD just put up 5 more shots per game
Dats all I was sayin, dude went all Waterboy on me.

One thing we can all be absolutely sure about: If we end up picking #1 and take X, a lot of people will be lamenting the decision not to take Y.

IF we get the first pick AND the LAL pick conveys, we should be able to trade up and get the second pick too. We have one of OK4, Noel, Saric to throw in plus fillers. Adding Simmons and Ingram is my dream scenario.

I'll be fine with either player tbh. Ingram is the better fit, Simmons is the guarantee in my opinion. I will be doing backflips if we get either guy with our first pick.

When was the last time that someone traded one of the prospects in a draft with legit star potential?
It is a really rare thing.
I mean I would love Ingram too, but i sure as hell wouldn't trade 4 and 0kafor for him, and Noel and Saric probably aren't going to get it done.

Well, I meant for another prospect. That Love and Lebron situation was pretty unique.

CLE should trade Love & Lebron for Wiggins & KAT except MIN wouldn't do it. I say that in jest because I don't like Lebron and I think Love is overrated. I also wish CLE eternal bad luck. I have no idea if MIN would do that deal but I would not.
Back to my point. I think Noel & #4 might get you Ingram depending upon the team with the #2 pick.

Well if Noel and 4 gets us 2 then I would do it, but I don't see anyone turning down Ingram for a combination of lesser pieces.

The more I see, the more I am leaning Ingram. Didn't think it even a possibility at seasons start.

3 years from now ya'll are gonna hang your heads in shame that you ever believed it was even a question when it came to Ben Simmons vs the field.

^ its easier to imagine the others are just as good because the pain in missing out of the #1 pick won't be as bad

Totally agree. Ingram would be an awesome consolation prize, but Simmons is going to be one of those iconic NBA players like a Lebron, Durant, Westbrook, Kobe type. He is going to be a first team all nba player imo.
