Will the 23-29 Magic Make the Playoffs? (Vote ends 2/19)

Post#1 » by rcklsscognition » Tue Feb 16, 2016 3:13 pm

The Orlando Magic currently have a record of 23-29 and are sitting in 11th place in the East. Do you think the team will make the playoffs this year?

Current team, probably not unfortunately. We'll see what the team looks like after the deadline. Hopefully Rob is working the phones right now, because some playoff experience, even just playing in the first round, would be the best thing for the development of this team.

Realistically, probably not as we have to leapfrog three teams just to get into the top 8 and that horrid January really put us behind the 8-ball. Our schedule still remains tough and really cannot drop many games anymore if we are really trying to secure a playoff berth.

The die-hard fan in me says yes we will defy the odds for reasons even I cannot comprehend.

This is a reslly bad time to take the poll because the team could look completely different after feb 18th.

I want us to make it, but the way we have been playing so far this year, Im saying no. However, lets see how this all star weekend and nice rest pans out for our guys. I think we are going to see alot more of our ASW trio and a Vuc. I think Tobias and Frye are on the way out so we will see what we get from them. That veteran help will determine that too.

The only reason we're out right now is because we went on a 10 (TEN!) game skid.

We can still get it together. I had hopes of 6th seed, and at one point, it looked like we could do it. We still might be able to slide into the 8th spot.

We've beaten a lot of the teams ahead of us, which implies to me that we are at least as good.

Miami just lost CB for a bit (sorry about the circumstances though)

Boston isn't as good as they've been playing in my opinion.

I don't have the standings in front of me right now, but as far as I remember, we're only like 3 games out of the 8th spot. Our guys have had some time to get healthy. I'd give it a solid 55% chance that we will.

That's why it ends on the 19th, at which point we can take another poll if we make any trades. This is to take the pulse of the current team making it to the playoffs, can we get it done, or do we need to make moves to get it done? Or can we not make it either way?

No, this is a bad time to take the poll because if the roster changes then this poll will contain data for both pre and post the trade deadline.

A better poll would be one for pre deadline and one for post deadline.

I'm off a day with the holiday, I switched it to the 18th deadline. If something major comes trade wise, the poll can be shut off, I will do so.

I doubt any major trades will be made . Just don't think anyone is desperate enough to make a major trade with us .

I think we, along with a few other teams, will have a shot if the heat (Bosh could be out for the season again) and bulls (noah out for season, butler out at least a few weeks) start dropping games more frequently. Of course, we can't afford to go on massive losing skids ourselves, so we'd have to maintain the level of play we saw prior to all star weekend. Too many ifs and not sure how it's going to play out.

No. Just dont think this team is consistent enough to execute against good teams, they will keep losing those close games.

Big injuries possibly for HEAT, Hornets, Bulls, all three ahead of us and not by much. I voted no though because in December everyone was freaking out about Feb/March schedule but now that we're here, all of a sudden the schedule is an afterthought.

With this current team - and the schedule ahead - I'm expecting around 32 wins.

Edit: Oops, that would mean a 9-21 record the rest of the way, which I think the Magic are better than. I say they go about 12-18, good for 35 wins.

If this was last year, probably. This year we'll need 42-44 wins, and that's going to be a stretch. I do think our lineup has improved a lot with AG starting, however.
