I hope Brandon Jennings..

1. Underwhelms so that Elfrid gets the most PT, and we don't have to resign him.

POLL: What are you hoping for from Brandon Jennings?

Post#1 » by The_Watcher » Wed Feb 17, 2016 6:23 pm

Simple question - What would you like to see Brandon Jennings do for us for the rest of this season?

- If he sucks, we drop him this off-season, no sweat. We get money to spend on someone else. This is Elfrid's show to run anyway.
- If he returns to form before injury, we have a point-guard that can score, give us some highlights here and there, but we're tempted to keep him (new contract). Elfrid's time gets taken away, development gets slowed down.

An actual shooting PG off the bench that could provide good minutes and chemistry with certain players on the court. I'm not expecting the world from him, but also expecting him to play a bigger role than post-injury Detroit.

Okay, fair enough. I feel like his arrival is reminiscent of Rafer Alston. Have we had another PG since that Finals run that could handle the ball (IMO better than Payton), and dish as nicely (fancier than Payton, I mean) as Jennings has shown in the past?

I'm meh about him, never liked him. That said, his play style could synergize nicely with the team, I'm excited to see how Skiles puts it all together.

I would like to bring him in ice cold at the start of the 4th and tell him to get buckets. Even shooting 37% on a bad ligament is better than our godawful 4th quarter offense.

Twist: Jennings plays so well as a starter and leads us to the playoffs. Trade Payton.

Voted 2. I'm hoping for a big boost in the scoring department (more specifically - the long range shooting department). His shot is legit from downtown. He is a good slasher as well. The problem with him is his short to mid range jumper.

But yeah, I expect opposing PGs to play up on him more instead of sinking back into the key to guard the penetration drive and clog up driving lanes for others... like what currently happens with opposing PGs defending Elf. With the added spacing, I'm hoping to see Dipo, Hezonja, Fournier and Gordon get some more attempts ripping their way and attacking the rim...

...and that's just to start...

Anyone else remember this game??

Trade Payton? No way... but if they can play well as a tandem and not make one significantly better than the other, then maybe when they hit FA, they can both be affordable players!

What am I hoping for?

I'm hoping he averages 25 and 10 for the rest of his career, and stays in Orlando.

But the reality is, he's a bum who I hope isn't here beyond this year.

I'm hoping for someone that when we need it can help revitalize a stagnant offense that often leads to blown leads. Keep the pressure on the opponent. I also hope for the occasional scoring outburst that he is known for.

I'm not sure what to hope for, nor what to expect.

I hope Payton is fully back from injury and outplays Jennings to solidify himself as our starting PG of the future. But I think Jennings - if/when fully recovered from his injury - is actually a better PG for his career than Payton has displayed so far.

Let the best man win? Jennings isn't a great shooter, but neither is Payton. They both have virtually the same PER this season, too.

I guess I want Jennings to make Payton work for it (like Arroyo and Nelson back in the day). And in the meantime, for him to make us better for the last 30 games of the season.

I just want him to be a spark off the bench and someone that can be relied on more than Napier. I just hope he accepts his role as a scorer in a smart way, and not try too hard to put up some crazy numbers since he's playing for a contract. Don't be selfish and play smart. I know he'll have some great games and probably some not so great ones, but if he plays smart and as part of the team, I think he'll be a great fit.

Not voting since I didn't feel a choice fits my opinion. I just want him to be a solid backup and to never see Napier running the point again. If he does that, then we're in a much better place.

Of course you hope for Jennings to Become awesome and ALL-Star quality.
But, most likely he is a 2 month rental, and post Achilles injury he isn't the same yet.

He will get mins at PG for sure because he can shoot, and that will help the Magic
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

I'm hoping it ruins our team, we win maybe another 2 or 3 games all season, draft Dragon Bender this summer and try again next year.

Absolutely nothing. Just don't mess up the chemistry of our main guys while you are here. Yes, I am still sad to see Tobias leave.
