I wish there wasn't a salary cap.

We've been fed for years that salary caps protect small market franchises. But in a world where the two richest owners in the league own the Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic, the cap does nothing more than keep large markets in the picture.

In a world without a cap, Orlando could simply buy it's way to a title. I'd take that right about now.

No salary cap protects the owners, from themselves. Everything else it does is secondary to that purpose.

We might be able to survive in such a world being that we are more medium market, tax free, and have an owner with a deep wallet....but yeah, definitely favors LA & NY.

How does this favor NY and LA? When was the last time the Knicks, Nets, Clippers, or Lakers got the top free agent? It's not like the draft suddenly goes away either. It's also not like he's saying to get rid of the luxury tax. If you look at baseball, there is still room for teams like KC to make a run. I don't see why sports leagues aren't run like every other business. If you want to spend $2B on a team, you should be able to. Besides, time and time again it's been proven that most front offices wouldn't pick the right 5 guys to build around.
