Ersan Ilyasova Hype Thread

Post#1 » by OrlandO » Thu Feb 18, 2016 3:00 am

Who's ready to draw some charges?!?

But seriously, he leads the league in charges taken this season at 29 (next highest is 16).

So we have Jason "highlight ruiner" Smith and Ersan "hit-the-floor" Ilyasova. I think it could work if we could stick a rebounding SF next to them.

I liked Illy while he was in Detroit. He is not a bad player. He shouldn't have been a starter, but they didn't have anybody better. He is a solid 20-25mpg player who can shoot the hell out of the 3 ball. Good team player.

Alright. I'll bite.

He had some really productive seasons under Skiles. He was a steal for my fantasy team about 4 years ago with multiple double-doubles and 3 point shots. That season he averaged 17 and 9 per 36 and shot 46/44/80. His per-36 stats have actually been somewhat comparable to Harris over the years and he's a more reliable shooter, but he's obviously peaked whereas Harris is 23. He even hit 18/8 per 36 on 47/39/65. So in that sense, there might be something to look forward to in the short term with Ilyasova as a floor spacer and someone who could help on the boards.

And he draws charges. It's a hype thread, so we'll ignore the other aspects of defense.

The good thing is he's shown you he can produce at a 20+ USG rate, so it'll again be a matter of can we get this guy the ball consistently where he can hit shots?

Man I cant wait to watch this guy slam on our hardwood in clutch time. Game winning plays man, not even kidding.

I honestly have liked the guy for quite some time. He seems to get along with all of his teammates, no one has anything bad to say about him, and he can produce at a pretty high level. You gotta love a guy who gives his body up for the game like he does. He has been a very underrated player for years now, and I am glad to have him.

The thing I love most is that in the video many of those games were blowouts yet he was still sacrificing his body.

Just realized what a dramatic shift in charges we are about to have. We essentially traded a bowling ball for a bowling pin!

And I still think he looks like Woody from Toy Story

Wonder if Detroit will give Tobias as much freedom as we gave him last season... he was 7th in the league in charges committed. Circle March 23rd on your calendar... Ersan vs Tobias.

Ilyasova will be the only way to neutralize the Tobias revenge factor. Stand in front of him in transition!

That's definitely a good way to put it. I mean it's not surprising that Tobias is one of the players that Ilyasova takes the charge from in that video.

I've always liked Ilyasova though, and is actually someone I usually like having on my 2K teams. He's a hustle guy that is going to help stretch the floor some. I love his willingness to take charges and I can definitely see him and Jason Smith pissing off a lot of guys with their effort and scrappiness, something that we need more out of from our big guys.

I don't doubt Ersan's abilities... I think he's the solid piece in this deal (He'll thrive in his role). But its the Brandon Jennings factor... I cringe every single time I see him play.

Ilyasova when "wide open" (6+ Feet) on threes: 48.4%
Harris when "wide open" (6+ Feet) on threes: 32.9%

Vuc must be happy.
