In a move against George Karl, Kings fire assistant Vance Walberg

In another showdown between Kings management and head coach George Karl, Sacramento fired assistant coach Vance Walberg.

Walberg, 59, is a close confidant of Karl’s who is responsible for a number of Karl’s offensive tenets.

Karl was vehemently against the decision to dismiss Walberg, league sources told The Vertical.

In reading some of Vlades tweets I think a trade didn't get done so firing Walberg was option 2. LOL. The first week back should be interesting.

Another whatever blah move. This team makes no sense. So you keep Karl but fire his confidant? What is vlade punishing him?

we needed a better defensive scheme so we fired the dribble drive offense guy..now karl is going on a rant saying the assistant coaches shouldn't get the blame with the defensive flaws because its his call regarding the defense part... i still don't get why they are keeping karl for now, knowing very well he will be replaced once the season ends...

The only thing that can save this team is Vlade hiring the right GM who has a vision and plan for what the team is going to be long-term as far as culture and identity.

Until that happens we will just be spinning our wheels endlessly.

I'd take the Kings roster any day, not as a finished product but I still would. Now, how they've been used is very much in question.

I liked Vance, but I think this is Vlade firing a shot across Karl's now and I support that. There could also be something else going on behind the scenes, like Vance was the source of leaks or conflict amongst the players.

Hopefully we see better spacing focusing on optimizing the interior and exterior at the same time. Hopefully the days of 5 outs are gone. 4 out 1 in with that being Cuz is plenty spread.

Today on his radio show Grant took a hard stance against this guy... Grant said he hasn't spoken with one NBA person who's worked with Vance and had anything positive to say about him (besides Karl).
