Makes absolutely zero sense for a rebuilding team to trade this guy. Jerry Colangelo is now in charge of that organization and must see something he does not like if he is willing to trade Okafor. Makes me very skeptical about Okafor.

Exploring trade options for Okafor could simply mean that Embidd is showing promise. Additionally the 76ers might have Saric and Simmons on their roster next year as well.

Okafor is a legit low post option and I think he'll mesh a lot better with Len than Noel.

I would offer either:

Bledsoe + Keiff + Warren

or

Suns unprotected pick + Keiff + Archie Goodwin

Wow. You REALLY like Okafor. There is a reason Colangelo wants to dump him.

From a fantasy look at things, if Philly wants to get pieces to help them compete (since it'll be hard to lure free agents there), they could take on Morris and Knight for okafor. Morris replaces that production and probably fits well next to Noel. Knight can be their scorer (unless they think Smith is their PG long term).
Probably throw a pick in there too somewhere.

The trade the Suns should get in on is the Cavs / Celtics /Pelicans - Love for Anderson trade talk

That is a deal that looks like the Cavs are trying to cut salary if they trade Love for Anderson

Do the Cavs want to cut salary?

Suns can do something like

Morris - 8m
Teletovic - 5.5m
Tucker - 5.5m of which only 3.3m is guaranteed next year
Price - 1m and expiring

for

Love and Mo Williams

Cavs would save short term and long term

Or somehow, work the Celtics into the deal for that Brooklyn pick and the Celtics get Love. But, Kieff and Tucker next year dropping Love and Mo Williams saves them a ton of money against the Lux Tax

I'd take Okafor and rely on the fact he's only 20 and that he can mature (maybe before he's allowed to drink)

The Dwight Howard idea from Dave King - again, just his random thought

First, he can opt out after this year or next - that's not good.
But you are getting rid of long term problems in KIeff and Chandler
I don't think it makes the team better or worse -just, "hey, this is a big time move - lets do something!!"

Only way it really works if you could get Sam Dekker too

What about Howard, Beverly and Dekker for Knight, Kieff and Chandler?

More importantly, the possible opportunity cost of trading a lottery pick is much larger than that of tading Morris, Tucker, and Teletovic.

That comparison sucks.

The bolded is exactly my point. Rookies who can't make the rotation because they aren't good enough yet to overtake regular role players don't retain value. Also, McLemore may have been in a supposed bad draft (which it really wasn't--see Gobert, McCollum, etc.), but he's still every bit as highly thought of as RJ freaking Hunter, a super late first rounder in a not special draft.

How about Vonleh? How about Thomas Robinson? There are countless, and I mean countless, examples of this. You have to be living on the moon to miss them. Draft picks simply do not hold value when the guy plays 10 minutes a game in a season and shoots 33% from the field and 24.5% from 3. That scenario simply does not exist.

Yeah. You don't get it. I'm done

Yeah, I don't know these guys' skill sets but many rookies don't play much their first year. Probably many good ones. But provided they were taken in the first round last year and were rated in those spots on McD's big board, or close to those spots, depending on position, I'll take guys in a better draft plus one pick this year, over a first rounder and two second rounders this year any day.

They cannot get this years pick - unless its protected to like 7. No way

Granted I have zero idea what that team wants as they have ZERO direction - maybe with Colangelo they do

But he is not taking Kieff

At this point, there is nothing we can do to get any better or worse.

I would however like to see Knight traded at some point (either by the deadline or the offseason). Booker has shown he will be a star, so inhibiting his growth and playing time will be a detriment. We have a decent 3 man guard rotation for the rest of the year, only boosting both Archie and Knight's value. I am for keeping Archie for the longhaul....he's shown that he can be good.

The problem with trading Tucker is that we literally have no SF's on the roster. I suppose we can play Booker/Archie/Goodwin for small ball stretches, and possibly Chandler/Len/Markieff for big man stretches.

Why do we need a SF this year? Who's to say we don't have one? Booker can play there, especially if we have Knight back, but even without him if we don't care much about winning and keep a guy like McRae or get a guard in a trade, or even play Price and Goodwin, fine.

Exactly. I don't know much about the Okafor situation, but from what I've heard, guys were baiting him to get into a fight, which happens as people are out for money (not saying that is right)...he didn't chase a guy down at a hs basketball game to beat him up and doesn't have the history that the twins do.

Regardless, I don't want Markieff, who won't be a starting PF on a contender unless surrounded by a couple of superstars and Okafor would cost too much.

As for those talking about Okafor's D, I think he can improve. Booker can't play D either.....I don't see people saying they don't want him....because he can't play D...same with Warren. Even Nash.

I think it also probably has to do with the fact that Okafor has potential to be a cornerstone big man (not saying he ever will be, but potential means a lot in the NBA), while Markieff, at best, is a solid starter/great 6th man. People are generally more likely to put up with that type of BS with a difference maker. Yea it's not really fair, but that's usually how it is.

And when Frye and Anderson don't get traded we will be stuck with Kieff for the rest of the season.

I understand the market expansion for Kieff if those trades happen, but for Tucker?

Maybe some teams believe they get closer to contention with one of Frye/Ryan and decide to go all in and make an extra move for Tucker. That would really have to be Clips, Cavs and maybe Raptors.

That's strange to think that trades of other forwards would open up the market. I guess potentially possibly for Orlando and New Orleans.

Guys, Okafor just makes the worst team in the NBA even WORSE when he's on the floor.
Obviously Colangelo wants to deal him when he's putting big numbers and people still believe in him.

Dont be fooled by his wonderful postup game.

Totally preparing myself for the damage control Ryan McDonough will be in this afternoon. If you guys have a chance you absolutely have to tune into sports 98.7 at three today. McDonough will be on with Burns and Gambo, imagine the sparks if Markieff doesn't get traded.
