A free pick is always nice. But like when we traded for Afflalo (surely he's worth a first!!!!!) maybe teams didn't value Tobias as much as Morris (cheap deal) or DMo (bidding war?) or maybe Rob actually likes the veterans he's getting back. Who knows!

The only thing we know is his trades look a lot better after the fact.

It is bizarre to me that Zach Lowe doesn't understand that the Magic don't want to add the salary of a first round pick that will very likely fall into the 10-16 range.

It goes against the Magic's two apparent goals:
1) to clear cap space.
2) to avoid getting younger.

Are you serious. Magic have ZERO salary cap concerns that a mid 1st rounder could ever damage. Keep stretchin tho. You are entertaining.

Actually every dollar counts and if Rob's plan is to be able to offer 2 max guys regardless of their years of league experience, we may well need that extra cash.

And what exactly am I stretching? Pointing out something that others have missed?

Still it's hard to argue with the guy who loves a guy who's no longer in the league

Every bit counts for the salary cap. It is the difference between the Magic having to renounce Fournier or not, while having enough cap space to add two max players.

In addition, the Harris trade went down before the Frye trade went down, so taking on extra salary at that moment could have jeopardized alternate scenarios in case the Frye trade fell through

Pretty anxious to see how Jennings plays, and if he plays well do we re-sign him or let him walk? If he plays bad do we re-sign for cheap and hope he recovers? Assuming we don't pick up Ersan's option next year, so he's a rental (he is a good player so I wouldn't mind keeping him [unless someone better comes along, *ahem* Festus]).
