Depth Chart after Trade Deadline

Post#1 » by NBlue » Thu Feb 18, 2016 6:14 pm

Best Guess:

Payton/Jennings/Oladipo/Watson/Napier
Victor/Hezonja/Fournier
Fournier/Gordon/Hezonja/Marble
Gordon/Ilyasova/Smith/Nicholson
Vucevic/Smith/Dedmon

Could flip flop Jennings and EP.

My sense is the big minutes winner from these trades is Mario...

Gotta reach that deadline first playa ;)
The future is bright 8-) Payton said. ``I just want to keep getting better and maybe one day I can be the all-time all assists leader for the Magic.’’

I think Jennings will be the starter pretty soon, which would be a good move, not because Payton sucks or can't handle it, but because Jennings is the better shooter and would open the lane more. . . He could also be our go to guy when he's feeling it in the 4th. But for our first game tomorrow, I'll guess:

Payton/Jennings/Watson
Oladipo/Hezonja/Marble
Fournier
Gordon/Ilyasova
Vucevic/Smith/Dedmon

I personally think that's a lineup with Jennings in it. Hopefully he can return to his Bucks and first year of Pistons form.

Not that its rocket science but I think that's the same as what I have... though I'm sure you don't think Evan is gonna play 48 minutes at the 3 (then again with Skiles you never know...)

It's honestly questionable as to which of them is the better shooter. It's more of a competition for who isn't the worst of the two. Payton's shot has at least improved a tiny bit, whereas Jennings has yet to get his legs under him post-injury.

I just didn't want to repeat names. I don't think Fournier will play 48 minutes, more like 34.

My point is that he gets more respect than Payton at the three point line, I know Payton is shooting the 3 better than Jennings right now, but teams are still daring him to shoot. Also, Payton's mid-range game is atrocious right now.

Depth Chart after Trade Deadline

Post#12 » by tooler » Thu Feb 18, 2016 7:11 pm

It's his long 2s that are atrocious.

I'm not going to list my lineup until I see CJ Watson play a single minute. Curious if he can live next to Jennings against backups.

Depth chart.

Payton/Jennings
Oladipo/Hezonja
Fournier
Gordon/Ilyasova
Vucevic/Smith

Starters and Mario play 32 minutes, backups 16 minutes. 9 man rotation. Of those 9, 6 can be considered the core (all the starters plus Mario).

Until I see him on court I'm going to assume he doesn't exist.

Looking at the roster, we seem short on enough players for a full rotation unless AN and Bazz/Watson get some more significant minutes, or.... Someone goes to the bench.

Lineup 1

Vuc/Smith
Gordon/Ilyasova
Fournier/Hezonja
Dipo/Watson
Payton/Jennings

Skiles will need to run a small ball backcourt off the bench for the few minutes all starters are resting. OR...

Vuc/(Smith/Dedmon)
Ilyasova/(AN/Smith)
Fournier/Gordon
Dipo/Hezonja
Payton/Jennings/Watson

Or instead of Gordon, one of Fournier or Dipo goes to the bench and Gordon starts at the 3 whilst Hezonja comes off the bench at the 3.

But I think Skiles would opt to bench the younger Gordon, if he had to make that choice.

Skiles has said directly he plans to bring Jennings and Ilyasova off the bench, and that he doesn't see a problem playing Jennings and CJ Watson at the same time. (CJ should be fine off the ball since he's a great shooter.)

Payton/Jennings/Napier?
Oladipo/Watson
Fournier/Hezonja
Gordon/Ilyasova/Nicholson
Vucevic/Smith/Dedmon

That's the rotation. Book it.

Fournier at 3 is a terrible idea. Put AG there
Favorite Magic players of all time:

2. Andrew Nicholson
3. Anthony "no-neck" Johnson
