Nice one. Let's see if Cliff can coax more out of him.

He says the Grizzlies told him and his agent that they wouldn't trade him...one day before they actually traded him.

This happens all the time. We did this with Crash.

Went over to the Grizzlies board and asked about Lee.
The response:
YAY MORE PUMP FAKES

Gonna miss him. Y'all got a nice player - a big upgrade over Hairston.

The Hornets are the 29th worst out of 30 teams in FG%. Courtney Lee's 45% FG over PJ's 36%, in and of itself, should make a yuge difference.

PJ is around 30 pounds heavier than Lee tho.
It'd be much harder to pull off

Lee looked a little hesitant to pull the trigger on some open 3's last night @BKN but that is to be expected from anybody who just joined a team...wants to win some love from his new teammates, just hope we don't have to see him pass up too many open looks as everyone knows what an assassin he is from deep.

Re: 3&Lee - The Courtney Lee Thread
I bumped this from the CHA-IND thread since its about Lee:
We all should probably have recognized the day mgmt did not pick up PJs 3rd year that he needed to be traded to protect his value as a first round asset, and that starting him effectively increased his trade value.
That being said, while Lee is the kind of reliable player Clifford and a playoff bound team need, Mgmt must like him, because he played for Cliff before, and we traded a 23 year old first rd draftee + 2 2nds (this club has never valued 2nds but going forward has a D League team to populate) for a 30 year old who seems less strong, less athletic and 2 years older than Hendo. I think Lee is a decent fit, but I expect the decision to keep him to be based on salary fit vs younger player availability this summer
yosemiteben wrote:Braggins wrote:PJ still would have been a massive hole on our second unit if we had MKG. I think we'd definitely still do the Lee trade.
Yeah I think the question for me is more would we still target a wing.

Re: 3&Lee - The Courtney Lee Thread
At The Hive has a nice piece up about CLee's perimeter defense, at and about on my phone or I'd post it.
It got me thinking...given the expected makeup of our team next year, would anyone prefer resigning CLee over Marv assuming they sign the same deal? I assume the answer is no, but just curious.

Would much prefer Marv. While Lee's defense has been solid his offensive game leaves much to desire.

Re: 3&Lee - The Courtney Lee Thread
Rather keep Marvelous. His 3pt shooting + rim protection is pretty hard to replicate; we'll have MKG back to be our perimeter D stopper

Re: 3&Lee - The Courtney Lee Thread
I haven't seen anything noteworthy out of Lee so far. Granted I've missed a lot of the games since he came over, but he's been underwhelming. Marvin looks awesome. If we can't sign Al Horford, I'd happily throw Marvin a healthy 2 year deal.

Re: 3&Lee - The Courtney Lee Thread
I'd sign Lee over Marvin. But only because it's inevitable that MKG gets hurt. Need an insurance policy, and Lee is that.
I have faith in Frank making big strides in the offseason as well.
That being said I want to keep Marvin.

Even if MKG is out, the team is structured for Batum at SG and MKG at SF. Lee is more of a SG than a SF. Wouldn't it make more sense to get a SF in case of MKG injury?
