Just watching the D-league highlights and reading tweets from people who follow, he seems to be making good progress. If we find a move for Hibbert and Bass, I could see us running a Black/Upshaw/Sacre rotation post all star break.

he's been making good progress but i definitely still think he wouldn't be ready by season's end but i hope i'm wrong. kid's got too much not to just get his head in it and prove he belongs in this league. A rotation of Black/Upshaw/Sacre could DEFINITELY get us that top 3 pick though  not bad just guys that need loads of polish, at least it'd be fun to watch us catch that top 3 pick that's for sure.

i really wonder what we could get for Lou-Bass-Hibbert-Young. i'd love to get back a young rim protector that can run with our young core, looking at Cauley-Stein and any one of the centers from Denver or Philly. Don't need a potential starter just a hopefully decent contingency plan in case we can't find an adequately-mobile rim protecting center in free agency and must look to next tier dudes like Noah.

i'd also love to snag up a first rounder in this draft as well as another 2nd round pick, preferably one to be in the 31-40 area

a post deadline roster of this kind would lose likely more often but still be fun to watch the kids grow en route to that top 3 pick

Russell - Huertas
Clarkson - Brown
Bryant - MWP
Randle - Nance - Kelly
Sacre - Black - (Young C)

plus whatever salary filling players come back from such trades that would see Hibbert-Lou-Bass-Young moved to playoff hopeful teams in exchange for likely expiring contracts with young prospect or picks with salary filling players
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick? Fultz, Ball or Bust

Curious to see:

Now that the trade deadline has come and gone and we still have the same team..

Rotations/minutes going forward? Do we cut anybody/bring anyone on?

I'd cut Sacre and Huertas at the minimum. Bring Frazier and Upshaw on. While Upshaw may not be ready to play in games yet, at least we control his rights and can get him accustomed to an NBA schedule. If we need to send him down to the D-Fenders for a couple games, we could do that anyways. I don't see the harm in this. It's not like we're losing a future asset in Sacre or Huertas -- they're both garbage and shouldn't be playing at the local YMCA, let alone the Los Angeles f***ing Lakers.

PG: D'Angelo Russell [35]/ Jordan Clarkson [13]/
SG: Jordan Clarkson [22]/ Lou Williams [20]/ Bryant [6] / Frazier
SF: Kobe Bryant [20]/ Anthony Brown [18]/ Nance [10]
PF: Julius Randle [30]/ Larry Nance [18]/
C: Brandon Bass [25]/ Tarik Black [20]/ Randle [3]/ Upshaw

It's past the deadline, we are garbage, worse than the dirt between the toes

Can we **** play Russell 40 mins a game now? Stop it with this "has to earn" it nonsense, we did that and we still sucked ass
He can play like an all star or be hot garbage, don't care, the kid needs to learn and play the 4th quarters

I'll lose my mind if he still gets 25ish mins a game

I understand that 40 is some arbitrary number that people throw out about the minutes they want him to play but this is starting become insanity. No player in the league is currently playing over 38 minutes and no pg is playing over 36.
Dlo is currently sixth among rookies in minutes (27.1) behind Okafor 30.4, Mudiay 30.2, Towns 30.1, Porzingis 28.2, Winslow 27.8.

Among pg with 3 years or less experience he’s only behind Clarkson 32.3, Mudiay, Carter-Williams 30.4 and Payton 29.9. So knowing all of this I can’t really be too upset about him playing 27.1 mpg, the minutes thing is only really a talking point because the three additional minutes that the other rookies are playing isn’t a huge difference.

How he’s being utilized, when he's playing his minutes and building chemistry with the other young players are the larger issues.

Agreed, we don't need Russell to play 35 MPG. We need him to spend a significant amount of time on the court with Clarkson (to judge whether or not that can be a backcourt of the future moving forward) as well as Randle (to develop the PnR chemistry). We also need him to finish games on the court instead of on the bench. If he starts and finishes games, he will naturally average 30 MPG which is enough IMO.

Byron said that Julius Randle will start the rest of the season

Well, that's a good start.

Why would you play the kids 40 minutes a night in games that don't matter? Lakers didn't play Kobe 25 minutes a night as a rookie and those games had meaning.

More minutes do not mean a higher/better/faster learning curve. All more minutes do is increase the opportunity for sloppy habits or injury due to fatigue

D'Angelo Russell needs just full freedom without looking over his shoulder. I mean, throw the nonexistent playbook out. The way Clarkson got the full green light last year (and Clarkson was terrible and made tons of mistakes).

On the other hand, limit Clarkson's minutes, no need to showcase his ass to inflate his contract. Also, he is who he is this year. If he's going to change/add to his game, he'll do it this summer. He's not going to suddenly learn how to D up and play point right now.

Anthony Brown needs more playing time to develop, for his sake, for our sake, for another team's. We need to know more about what we got with him, before we know what to do with him.

Lou and Nick need to be showcased. More than 25 minutes per game, give them consistency. They're shooters so they need to get into a rhythm. Have to build a market for them this summer.

High priority Randle should definitely start and play monster minutes for the rest of the year. He should post some gaudy numbers, and improve his trade value this summer.

Since we have Nance, if we land Ingram or Simmons in the draft, a hot Randle would be a great opportunity to get a better fit.

no lou williams is the future of this team. lou has goat potential so deserves to be out there 30 mins trying to be as much of a black hole as possible.

what kind of logic is that? lakers played kobe 20 mins a game PRECISELY bc those games had meaning. if you're head coach and you're fighting for playoff seeding you're gonna give more burn to prime eddie jones over an 18 yr old kobe because he's simply better. if they were bottom dwellers w no talent then kobe would have for sure gotten more time. more minutes absolutely mean they will get better.

I'm one of the most anti-tank guys on this forum, but I sincerely hope we don't win another game this season. It's Ingram/Simmons or bust. We've only got about a 40% chance of landing either as it stands. I'd like to see those odds improve if possible. I'd be quite happy to see Huertas and Sacre getting more burn, honestly.
