Apparently he went on and said it sets the groundwork for revisiting the trade later on and points out that they talked about/chased KG for 2 years before they got him.

Jahlil Okafor

Danny Ainge clearly doesn't. And that is healthy. It's why he spent the last several days trying to get the kind of magnetic player needed to lift the Celtics from the NBA's middle earth. While a league source has indicated the late target Ainge has referred to in radio interviews was Philadelphia's Jahlil Okafor, Ainge has turned silent on the matter.

In any case, we do know the deal was dead on Wednesday and that the other club pulled the plug. The locals left the porch light on, but nothing returned to life.

So the C’s move on. Nothing has changed with their plan. They recognize the destination and their proximity from it.

I was hoping they went after Jahlil. Would have been a bit of a shocker. Wonder what the package was. Sounds like we could kick the tires on that again and maybe Coangelo will let Hinkle play?

A Brooklyn pick for Okafor sounds crazy. The kid can score, but he makes Al Jefferson look like Dennis Rodman

I'm a little concerned that Danny was going to give up a the Brooklyn pick for Okafor. Who knows what the whole package was but this one is a head-scratcher regardless. Okafor just doesn't seem like the type of player Danny would want to go for. I hope he's not someone we revisit again in the summer.

Okafor makes a ton more sense than Butler. I like Jimmy, but it was crazy talk to think Chicago would consider moving him.

Concerns abou Okafor's defense are overblown given his age, he can get a little quicker and a lot smarter with coaching and experience. Would be a huge upgrade from Sullinger..

Okafor much more tempting than Love.. And could be a guy you trade straight up for Cousins, for example

Are you guys serious?! You WOULDNT trade the pick for Okafor? The guy is averaging 17&8 as a rookie!!! If Marcus Smart was averaging 17&8 you would all deem him destined for superstardom!!! (FWIW Smart is my fav player on team) --- call it like it is though guys - Okafor is gonna be a 25+10 guy and he would be a great addition to this young team

Just not seeing it with Okafor. Doesn't feel like a guy who'll be a franchise player, at least not an effective one. Seems like Rudy Gay writ large.

Danny was all over Okafor before the draft, he was the original trade target before Winslow. Jahlil is elite offensively, he just needs to learn verticality on D. Perfect big for our team. Wish he was able to pull the trigger.

Package could mean Jerebko+BK pick. I wouldn't read too much into that word. Okafor has plenty of tools to be a decent defender. Nobody should be surprised that a rookie big man doesn't defend particularly well.

Anyway the end of the season and lottery now get way more interesting.. If the Brooklyn pick somehow wound up 2-3 spots higher than Philly's, you could trade down in the lotto and pick up Okafor or Noel.. If Philly has the first and we have the sixth, much different

Yeah, a top 2 pick could get it done. there is a whole lot of Cousins to the guy.

To be clear, you would not be trading down and getting Okafor - you'd have to trade your pick outright.

That would be completely reasonable. Okafor is as good of a prospect as anyone in this draft. People just love the unknown.

This would be an excellent trade to revisit after May 17th

A "source indicating it was Okafor" is not concrete. They were talking about it pregame and mentioned Bulpett's speculation, but still questioned that it might not have been him, and talked about other players.

Are there really people saying they wouldn't trade the Brooklyn pick for Okafor? It's most likely to be the 4-5 pick and he was the number 3 pick in a much stronger draft (plus he was projected to go 1 or 2 leading up to the draft.) He's averaging 17 and 8 in his rookie season so it's not like he's not living up to expectations. Defense is a concern but he's 20, he has time to improve - Love and Cousins don't play defense either and they've been in the league for years. It would've been a great trade. He'd be the number 2 pick in this year's draft. In what world is that not worth giving up the 4-5 pick for?

If it's really Okafor it's further validation of a theory that Danny does not value shot-blocking big men.

I doubt it was Okafur either. I can't see the 76ers giving up on him unless there were multiple Brooklyn picks involved and Rozier/Hunter etc...

For those hating on Okafur, thinking about a big man that could dominate the East, and potentially lead your team vs the best in the West, then Okafur is definitely a prospect.

He's very similar to Marc Gasol, and when Gasol came into the league he was described as a below average defender.
Okafur is so young, has great footwork and is smart around the basket- he could be made into a serviceable defender pretty easily with Brads help.

Other than Anthony Davis and Cousins, which are relatively young big men have the best shot at being franchise centers in the NBA?
Okafur's up there with them considering his age.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Big no to Okafor. Just keep the pick if that is who we were thinking of trading it for.
