Because they have a very good coach who could turn a washed up player into a good contributor.

Dirk as bad as Lee on defensive end, so that won't be a problem for them, lol.

Well, they apparently still had their Room Exception.

David Lee is expected to sign with Dallas for the room exception of $2.1 million once he clears waivers, league sources tell The Vertical.

I'm not sure of his exact YoS but that's likely 50% more than teams without space could offer.
