Boston waived David Lee.

In the last hour I received two phone calls and several text messages that Atlanta needs to obtain him.

I think we could really use one of David Lee or Anderson Varejao

J.J. Hickson would also make a good rotation player for us between the 4/5.
Denver has waived him.

Well Novak and Lee are gone. Why are we not even pursuing Varejao? Does Bud really plan on sending out Muscala as our first big off the bench for meaningful minutes for the rest of the season?
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see some D-League player fill our open roster spot that more than likely won't make any type of impact whatsoever.
Such a move would fall right in line with the "safe" and "vanilla" status quo the hawks have become accustomed to.

Haven't read a single report saying that we're interested in Varejao, even though we can offer him an appealing situation of being the first big off the bench and playing significant minutes

I guess it's not as appealing as being a part of a team that has a chance of beating the bulls historic 72-10 record.
I'm more disappointed in the fact that I haven't heard a single whisper of us pursuing any of Varejao, Lee, or Hickson.

Looks like Jason Thompson was released to make room for Andy. Maybe he'll be a target for the Hawks now?

Re: David Lee has been wavied
I say this with little knowledge on if the Hawks are interested in ANY of the waived players: this franchise has never been enamored with trying to improve themselves during the season. We had chances to get Gasol while a Laker, yet refused to even touch that subject. When Al went down early on, we did zilch.
This does not surprise me even though I think Lee is a terrific fit for this offense. This franchise still looks eerily similar to what we were before the ASG left town. We thought that was our turning point. Turns out, we are still trying to understand what it takes to replace a big man when we lose them for the season.
I didn't expect anything on the trade deadline as we are going out the way we came into the season. Obtaining Antawn Jamison or Gary Payton for nothing is just laughable in that we are just an accounting tab on the NBA radar. Is it because we still want to get paid by teams over the luxury taxline?
Its amazing that fans can see things the Hawks' brass refuses to acknowledge for players that can help this team. The easiest thing to do is stand pat and not take chances. Since the rumors were squashed a couple of hours prior to the deadline, we look absolutely flat playing MIA and MIL. That's not a good thing in the long term.
