When you have today's players smoking weed, etc., and hanging at strip clubs. I can think of hundreds of healthier things to do when I'm making 8 million a year, or about to. Especially before a combine.

And you don't think players back then did drugs or hung out at strip clubs? LOL.

Or played drunk, or smoked cigarettes on the sideline...

If that's the type of player you want for your team and franchise, go for it. I'll take my chances with high character players.

I get it. You prefer the players that party, hang out at strip clubs, etc,. Fine. I prefer the family guy, or the raising money for charity, go back and finish their education etc., you know, the ones that make healthier choices in life.

I never said that. You implied that there are way more athletes today getting into stuff like that which is patently false. The athleticism required to play today vs. your false notion of the "golden era" of the game dictates that you can't get away with abusing yourself and expect to compete. The truth is probably closer to the exact opposite. 50 years ago, Johnny Manziel would draw comparisons to Namath or Layne. Today he is just considered a dumbass. Also, all that wifebeating and girlfriend beating crap would have never even come to light. Back then, you just never heard of all the stuff guys got into. It doesn't mean it never happened. The fact you are aware of these things is a testament that the overall moral compass of the league is pointing in a much better direction than it did in the 60s and 70s.

Well, I disagree and I won't go down this modern day societal pissing match. Its just my opinion, I don't expect everyone to agree with me all the time.
