What happens to Napier now?

Post#1 » by Versubio » Sun Feb 21, 2016 5:39 pm

So now that the trading deadline has passed and the Magic were unable to move Shabazz Napier what do they do with him going forward? I believe his contract for next season is a team option.

Option 4) He will be part of Skiles' four PG ultra small ball lineup.

Seems to me that he is player number 13 on a 12-man roster if Watson is healthy.

I hope we get rid of him as soon as possible. I don't even want to watch him chuck his way through garbage time. The 4 other guys on the court deserve to shoot too but he just won't let him.

Magic picked up his option for 2016-17 season earlier this year

Option 1 would be good for him cause he won't be playing here with the likes of Watson, Payton and Jennings.

I think he might still have a chance to be a serviceable player, plus he can shoot the ball. I just don't know if it would happen with the Magic.

Look at his stats. His shooting percentages are abysmal, especially for a guy whose only calling card is shooting.

I think The Magic will try to move him on Draft Night.

If The Magic trade their pick, Napier and maybe Watson might be sent out with it.

Trading the pick should be an option if The Magic do not like anyone at their pick. They should keep their options open but if no one good is there, I see a salary dump coming.

Option 1 is a good one if the Magic need to free up a roster spot. I don't see that happening at the moment. So, I went with option 2. He'll sit at the far end of the bench because that's just the kind of player he's destined to be in the NBA. Option 3 only happens if he requests it and I don't see that happening. The Magic have no reason to buy him out. His cap hit is nearly nothing.

I agree.

As it was widely reported the Magic were in trade conversations before the last deadline, it only makes sense for Napier to be shipped. Especially, if Jennings legitimately wishes to stay in Orlando, Napier is gone (and so is Watson).

Regardless of if Jennings wants to stay or not, Napier needs to go.

If Jennings, Watson, and Peyton somehow all ended up no longer being on our roster and Napier was the only PG left, Napier still needs to go.
