a better question is, is there a better coach the Pistons could get right now that's willing to come here?

If your answer is no, then be happy with Stan, he's doing 10 times better then his previous coaching predecessors and Joe Dumars during the 2nd half of his GM tenure. And we're not even close to having the finished product yet. Give it time, we don't need to be championship contenders by tomorrow.

That's a substantial exaggeration (10 times better?). Previous coaches did not have the luxury of building their own teams. Stan was allowed that advantage and in his first season posted 3 wins better than the last 2 coaching records.

Got a better option? If no, then you're not solving any problems.

based on their coaching, I wouldn't want to see any of the previous coaches have the power Van Gundy has now, it's not like these coaches had amazing coaching careers before coming here and our terrible roster screwed them up. They were all retreads

Even coaches that are considered "good" at coaching can't do what Van Gundy is doing right now, look at Doc Rivers.

Then u watch Celtics, Blazers and other mediocre teams playing and they share the ball, they defend with principles and choices. We play as the game comes. High p'n'r', Mook iso, Reggie hero ball, some post for Dre, but very few plays called.

again, SVG has said over and over again when our ball movement has not been good enough so he's clearly preaching it to the players. we have players who haven't been the best at moving the ball quickly in their careers (reggie, morris, KCP, etc.) so it's likely a habit that he has to drill in to the players.

the high PnR is just an action to create opportunities, it's not like he's drawing up iso after iso.

His fault for giving Reggie Jackson the keys to the team in the first place. Very poor judgement on his part. No team is going anywhere with Reggie Jackson as its primary point guard.

I like that op starts by saying he likes svg and acknowledges he's cleared up the old mess of a roster, then goes on to judge him based on 2 games after all the trades and AS break. Hahaha

Here's the reality of the current situation. We lost a huge chunk of depth with the trade and vetoed trade, we lost Tolliver for a while and we still don't have a legitimate back up pg. playoffs or even a good ending to the season is highly unlikely. Soak that in.
Now don't post threads about svg being a problem because moving forward we gave a bunch of young talent under team control for years. The future hasn't been this bright for many years and that's all thanks to svg.
