Re: The Trade-Mill - Trade Thread Part Infinity
If the Brooklyn pick fell out of the top 3 post-draft lottery, what would you give up in addition to that pick in order to land Blake Griffin on draft night?
Would you trade the 5th Overall Draft Pick (via Brooklyn), 2016 Mavericks First Round Draft Pick, 2016 Celtics First Round Draft Pick, 2016 76ers Second Round Draft Pick and James Young for Blake Griffin?

If Bender were still available I would use the pick on him. I have little interest in Blake Griffin. The Clips are playing better without him.

Is the Nets pick on the table for 'Melo?

Again assuming it is out of the top 3

I have no interest in Melo either. Overpaid, too old.

Carmelo Anthony is a 2.5 steps forward, 2 steps back type of player for this team. Even if people don't like the draft, trading top 4 pick (assuming Simmons, Ingram, Bender, Brown) for Melo would be practically useless.

Top Priority for the Celtics should be recruiting Kevin Durant to sign here . He is the reason we have created the cap space in the first place . To sign a player of his ilk. Once we sign him, other big time players would want to join him.

Yes, but the clips wouldn't. With Paul and Jordan they are in win now mode. If they are going to move Blake it's going to be for players to help them win now, picks are more or less useless to them. They would want guys like Smart, Crowder, Bradley, KO and IT plus the Brooklyn pick being sent to a third team for them to get even more in return.

The Clips may be in "win now" mode, but with GS and SA ahead of them, it's a hopeless task. And CP3 isn't getting any younger.

Agree but other than Golden State, I can't envision a scenario where Durant leaves Westbrook and even Ibaka at this point. He probably stays put on a 1 and 1 deal for now. The celtics best option is to keep winning as much as they can and hope they strike gold with this years pick. If you wind up with Jaylen Brown or Kris Dunn in the 4-5 range and they shine as a rookie then you can move them for a win now player to make the push in 2017. Or you keep them and keep building your culture here in the hopes to attract someone. 2017 is where it really gets sexy. If that Brooklyn pick is in the top 3 then the celtics are walking away with a cornerstone player that year

He would be the dream and one of the few guys I'd be willing to move this years pick for. It would have to start with the nets pick and Bradley and we'd probably have to add more.

If we sign Butler, wouldn't it be wasting cap space ? . I just don't see him as a star player . The Celtics should be going after real stars/ difference makers such as Kevin Durant, Cousins, Davis, Griffin, Harden, Westbrook etc. Plus I don't think Butler will be able to recruit another star player here.

I understand your concern but I'm very high on Butler personally.
