Over the last couple of months, we Magic fans have endured a devastating collapse almost as soon as it looked like our young squad was turning the corner.
As with all (semi) public forums, there is going to be a wide variety of opinions, however, more and more, I've noticed an overwhelming pessimism setting in with this crowd, and it's coming from our more seasoned members who are no doubt, huge Magic fans.
Here's my invitation: go down the list of our current roster, as many or as few players as you like, and identify what positive things you see in each. What are some things you'd like to see them work on?
I invite you to do this with Hennigan and ...(yikes) Skiles.
This thread isn't about who you can't wait to trade, who sucks, who is holding us back, how we have no hope and no vision.
I'll start:
Vucevic: incredibly skilled offensive big that is All-NBA when he plays motivated.
He needs to get that fire more often, especially when his shot isn't falling. This will also translate to his alleged defensive deficiencies
Dipo: insanely quick, athletic, defensive stalwart.
My boy needs to develop a shot, finish at the rim, get to the line. He would be an All Star once he develops those things
AG: biggest chance at being our Star. Freak athlete, elite defender
Needs to develop his shot keep it more or less consistent
Skiles: he has transformed our defense. It's a work in progress, but compared to the previous 3 years, we look like the 00s Pistons.
Give Mario some slack especially when Dipo is struggling.
Help the guys with some offensive strategy
Hennigan: best long term trade GM we've probably ever had; finds gems in the draft
Get a little more from our assets. 2nd rounders and heavily protected 1sts aren't enough. Time to make a big splash. Maybe don't gamble on the future so much.
Let's go guys. Let's get some positive vibes in here ☮

Re: Something Constructive
I like this topic... But I don't think us seasoned Magic fans are pessimistic... (Should be speaking for myself)
We've followed this team and know the ins and outs of the NBA and are kind of jaded at the moment. The roster right now looks meh (Though improving) at this point, coaching is below average, and it looks like the team is most likely going to miss the playoffs (Given the competition ahead of them and their own experience). Though its not really a lost season (team has improved). The air has just been let out as this team has come back down from the "honeymoon" phase of the season. We're seeing what we thought we would see from a relatively young core.
Happy to see Vucevic and Gordon playing well, and I love the balls that Hezonja has Showcased is spotty mintues. Fournier is pretty damn good and Oladipo is a Tasmanian Devil on the court. Elfrid has had his moments, but I know he'll come back around eventually.
Hoping these guys can finish it out strong and kind of make it interesting at the end for the last playoff spot.

Re: Something Constructive
Skiles: tough guy, disciplinarian, no nonsense kind of a person, passionate too
Vuc: incredibly skilled offensively, steadily making progress on the other side of the floor, good vision, willing to learn and adapt
Evan: awesome clutch player, reliable long distance shooter, not afraid of contact, durable
Dipo: all-defensive team skills, working hard on his jumpers and finishing at the rim, good singer
Air Gordon: exciting to watch, high motor, already awesome defender with more to come, stat sheet stuffer
Elf: up and down player with good court vision, good at driving to the basket
Hezo: versatile player with good shot, dynamic, work in progress but already solid contributor
The rest of the team probably won't stay here past the off-season so I cut myself some slack and end here. Bye, bye to BJ, Ersan, Napier (I'd wrote I hate him, but it wouldn't bode well with the subject of this thread)), Marble, Drew, Watson and Dedmon.
I wish we keep Jason Smith - high character player, reliable midrange jumper, willing defender with a knack to spectacular blocks. I don't keep my hopes up though - he probably gonna sign elsewhere.

Exciting young core, rookie with big potential, good coach, smart GM, great financial flexibility, nearly a playoff team.
I love the direction we're heading in.

Re: Something Constructive
Vuc: One of the top offensive centers in the NBA and now that he's aggressively taking guys off the dribble, he can start making a case for THE top. Double double threat most nights.
Aaron: Our best defensive player, able to guard the other team's best player and becoming our most aggressive rebounder despite being a bit undersized at PF.
Victor: Plays with high energy and when he's locked in can be a elite defender.
Elfrid: Great court vision and passing. More than anybody on the team he has the ability to completely take over games on both ends of the floor. Now he just needs to do it more often.
Evan: Plays solid D against guys often bigger than him. Good offensively and brings some shooting to the starting lineup.
Mario: Best shooter on the team. Best court vision after Elf. Still a work in progress on defensive.
Jason Smith: Our best per minute shot blocker, high energy defender and able to knock down the 18 foot shot with deadly accuracy.
CJ, BJ and Ersan: Haven't seen enough to really comment yet.
Skiles: Has helped the team defensively. Holds guys accountable. No BS interviews which can be fairly entertaining.
Hennigan: Has been brilliant in his talent scouting. Trades have been solid, with some question marks still outstanding. Needs to work on Free Agent signings.
