Re: Trade Discussion
I'm seriously skeptical whether Len will ever manage to stay healthy for an entire season. He is constantly sidelined by the most minor nagging injuries and can't play through them

As was mentioned on the last page, he's only missed 4 games out of 57...not exactly what I would consider 'injury prone'. He also missed 13 games last season. By comparison, Bledsoe missed 39,1, and 26 games over the past 3 seasons; I'd be more worried about the guy we've paid an average $14M per, who missed an average of 30% per season over the guy we paid $5M per missing an average of 12% per season the last two years.
Or how about our other $14M per superstar who has missed 15, 19, and 10 games the past 3 seasons?
To me, it's too early to tell on Len, just likes it's too early to tell on Warren, who is out the rest of the season. And while it's frustrating to see Len miss more games due to what can be considered "minor" ailments, I honestly wonder if we were in the heat of the playoff hunt, if Len would be missing this game.
Like I said on the last page, it's hard to tell what is "truth" or what is "tank" when one looks at this closely.

Re: Trade Discussion
Bledsoe's injuries are extremely concerning. He is a small point guard that plays in the paint. He gets hit constantly. That does not bode well for long term sustainability. I would say to trade him but he is probably untradeable. What team is going to trade for a small point guard with a large contract that has had three knee surgeries at such a young age. I would not trade for him if I was another team. And if I did, I certainly would not give up anything of equal value to what Bledsoe puts up when he is healthy. He has not proven to be dependable. At least not yet. Hopefully he will one day but who knows.

Brooklyn favored by 1.5 tonight. I'm not touching that bet. My luck I take Brooklyn and Devin Booker gets out his funk and drops 40.

The Len injury could very well be a tank move.
Now we just need Booker to have some bad food so he can't play. Someone get him a pizza from Dominoes.

I just don't see us beating Brooklyn. They have 0 incentives to lose. I know they are really really bad we are missing half of our team!

Yeah - without Len, I don't think we have enough offense to beat Brooklyn. Can't run an offense on lobs alone.

Ryan McDonough regrets his decision for the Phoenix Suns to trade Isaiah Thomas to the Boston Celtics during the 2015 trade deadline for a first round pick.
“I think in retrospect trading Isaiah Thomas when we did was a mistake,” McDonough said. “I think sometimes in the recruitment process things sound better in July (luring Thomas in free agency) than they do in November.
“He wanted more, he wanted a bigger role and I understand why: He’s a talented player,” McDonough added. “In retrospect, we should have carried him into the summer. If there’s one (decision) that stands out, if I could get a mulligan, that’d be it.”
Wonder what he'll say after Knight is off the team...

I think Chandler might return, so we'll be able to put a body on Lopez.
In other news JJ is looking for a buyout.

I look at it like this. While yes, it was a bad trade in hindsight, had we not made it, we'd still be on the treadmill. The biggest regret would be not getting more back.
If we kept him, we'd have the Lakers pick, but our own would be closer to 10-12 than 3-4.

I think McD is implying that he should have traded IT in the summertime, not at the trade deadline. So we would still suck most likely (depending on what he got back in the summertime, and of course the injuries).

Re: Trade Discussion
I was looking through each teams depth chart and came away realizing how watered down the talent in the NBA is currently.
If your not San Antonio, GS, and maybe Cleveland/OKC, I would say this is the worst year to attempt to try and make the playoffs. That's how big the talent level drop off is.
Hate to say this (especially for the younger guys who post on here) but this is hands down the worst era of basketball I have witnessed since 1988.
Point is the draft this year may save the Suns. So I hope we don't trade away the draft picks except maybe clevelands pick. I'm not a fan of draft and stash. Rarely do those picks come to fruition. Furthermore, I just don't see any players worth trading for (with the exception of players on OKC, Cleveland, GS, SA) that would dramatically help the Suns.
*Honestly, I think Adam Silver needs to figure out 2 things this off season. 1) how to improve the distribution of talent (even as thin as it is right now). 2) improve defense and I think I would like to see hand checks come back. I don't like this era of zero defense played by the majority of players. It's far to easy to score right now. (My little rant about the NBA as a whole).

Re: Trade Discussion
Bledsoes injuries dont concern me at all. People act like he is Penny Hardaway with shot knees but that is completely wrong.
All his injuries were minor ones that allow full recovery, even strenghtening after proper recovery.
The first one was a meniscus repair on one knee.
The second was a follow up because apparently the first surgery was not fully succesful.
The third was on the other knee and also one wirh full recovery.
In all cases the Suns choose the long term recovery option to treat it.
There is no telling if Bledsoe will have 1, 2, 3 .. 9 or zero additional long term injuries in the future.
Grant Hill, Steph Curry and many other players had an injury history early that eventually stopped.

I'd rather have him just take the night off and not put more stress on it. It's not like we're playing for anything anyway. Heal up big man.

I agree to some extent, but the 80s was similar with the Lakers and Celtics then in the 90s I think it was better despite the Bulls because the west was a slugfest. But over the last 5 years or so it seems like only 2-4 teams have a chance. That's what makes the nfl so much more exciting because you never really know. You can usually only count a handful of teams out of it when the season starts.

Re: Trade Discussion
No year is a bad year to make the playoffs.
To win the title you start by getting to the playoffs. You get to the playoffs, even at an 8th seed, you get valuable experience to your group/core. Watch the upcoming documentary on the Sunderella squad of '76... anything can happen. You don't always have to be the best team in your conference, you just have to be playing your best basketball. The #1 can always get knocked off as well. Also, no stats here, but it seems much easier to attract quality Free Agents to a winning team, rather than a muddling unit. Fat chance we score any significant piece this year via free agency. McDreamer should be slapped silly if he goes all in for Durant. Sister kissing has been his benchmark for success. A seat at the table doesn't mean you eat.
My biggest gripe on McDesparateToMakeaDeal was the dismantling of a team that was right on the brink of the playoffs. Sure, the common argument is that team over achieved and wasn't a contender blah blah blah... yet some subtle improvements/additions could have gone a long way. That was a team that gelled, that coveted chemistry. They deserved a second run. The city did too. Instead, McDoItMyWay miscalculated with his off season maneuvers, ransacking the roster, and put this team into a personnel shuffling tailspin. We are still recovering. At least it is such a mess that we now have the best chance at a #1 since the legendary Lew AlCoinflip.
I have always been supportive of getting to the playoffs. To slam on Sarver for wanting that makes no sense to me. That should be/is the first step of winning a title. Hard to see teams going from worst to first. Often, it is the team that was turned away once, twice that ends up with the crown. (see Golden State)
We have no where to go but up now. I guess that is the benefit for being at the bottom. Problem is, the collateral damage getting there has effected the fan base and, may be more damaging, the league wide player perceptions of this Front Office.

No. It really couldn't. There is no scenario that exists in which the Dragic and Green Suns were going to win a title. Not unless you could convince Lebron that he was born in and grew up in Phoenix.
