Extreme cold weather alert issued for Toronto
Toronto's medical officer of health has issued an extreme cold weather alert ahead of a big dip in the temperature tonight and tomorrow morning.

According to Environment Canada, the temperature is expected to drop to -12 C overnight and will feel closer to -20 with the wind chill.

During the alert, the city will be ramping up its services for the homeless, which includes handing out TTC tokens for people to get to shelter and increased street outreach.

The city asks residents to check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours during the cold weather.
