Our defense hasn't been awful this quarter. The Pelicans are making some ridiculous shots. Holiday just made a stepback three after almsot losing his footing. Ryan Anderson makes New Orleans' sixth three of the quarter and we're down by 12. That's ballgame. What do you do about a team making six threes in the fourth? They haven't all been wide-open, either.

All i could do is just laugh...

Anderson just hit another one with Dion in his nose from deep.

Looks like we're playing the Warriors two nights early with all of these threes the Pelicans are throwing up and draining.

They hit 3 wide open threes in a row, Anderson clowned Kanter on a couple of stepbacks, Jrue had an uncontested layup. Yes, our defense has most assuredly been awful this quarter.

This is professional basketball - players will hit long jumpers if the defense gives them the time and space to do so. It's not unlucky.

We can't just show up in the final two minutes and expect to win, especially when a team is as hot as the Pelicans are tonight.

I'm not saying it's all luck, but they've caught fire. Before that last miss, the Pelicans were something like 6/8 or 6/9 from three in the fourth, and some of those have been, as you said, long threes. Not all of them were good, open looks either.

I don't recall three wide-open threes in a row, but regardless, them starting something like 6/7 or 6/8 from three is somewhat just unfortunate and not much you can do about defensively. I'm not saying our defense has been great, but it hasn't been all awful, either.

The majority of them were great looks. When you let teams get great looks they start hitting harder shots as well. We got beat because we played awful defense that allowed them to hit a ton of shots.

Westbrook + Durant + Ibaka = 91 points

Everyone else = 28 points

After Saturday night we'll be losers of 4 of 5 and in a dogfight with the Clippers for the 3-seed.

it was actually
Douglas open 3
Cunningham open 3
Jrue missed jumper
Anderson clowns Kanter
Douglas open 3

So it wasn't three in a row, it was just 4/5 awful possessions defensively.

New Orleans 12 of 20 from 3 is not something that will happen every night.

Man, hasn't been the story all year long? It's not luck. It's a trend. Our perimeter defense is terrible. It starts with Durant. Durant is being so lazy on defense. He sets the precedent. This isn't on Donovan. People always blame the head of the snake but Donovan can't MAKE Durant lead his team and play defense.

It will happen more often than not when the shots are uncontested.

Donovan could at least try to help by playing his best perimeter defender in 4th quarters.

Side note
Kanter-16
Rest of team +1
Watching him attempt to guard Anderson was at least comical.

Pick your poison. Choose Roberson and decrease spacing for your shooters and close lanes for your drivers. Choose to sit Roberson and lose defense and put the onus on Waiters who has been playing good defense and can hit the 3 better than Roberson and open up things more.

Waiters hasn't been playing good defense.

This was just piss poor effort all around and I can't remember being this disapointed. Loss saturday and they lost 4 of 5 with LAC catching them soon.
