Look at it this way. Who is better: OKC without Durant or Boston right now?

Means absolutely nothing. The Raptors are better than Boston. Do they have a shot? I'm sure there's a thread on the Raps board saying they do using that same logic. They don't. Stars want to play with other stars. (LA and hometown teams the exception). If Danny wants KD to even look his way, he needs a star player. No ways around it.

But i'll leave it at that. I don't want to make this a 'me against the thread' type of thing.

And I apologize if I responded something different to what you were implying.

KD would make you the best in the East (though same can probably be said for Toronto as well), but I think the fit is incredible.

I'd say 50% Warriors, 40% Thunder, 10% everyone else.

Of that 10%, we have as good a shot as anyone, if not better.

Really on GSW that high? Seems like a lose-lose to me if i was KD. Go there and win a chip and everyone thinks you just road coattails. Go there and don't - oh man. Now if they somehow fall apart, don't get 70 wins and don't win a title, that changes things. But joining after they win 2 straight titles, man, I hope KD doesn't do that.

After losing out on Kevin Love last year, I don't have high hopes for Kevin Durant. As a matter of fact, I'd be delighted if he even just came to the city on a recruiting trip.

A year from now Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka could all walk. It would be interesting if 2 or more of them joined a team together.

If he goes somewhere else and doesn't win, he will face questions about that as well. The tallest trees get the strongest breeze.

All that coattail stuff is just noise, IMO. People say that Bird or Jordan didn't have to sign up with other stars, but I think that's nonsense personally. They were fortunate enough to have HOFers on their teams and due to their ultra competitive nature, they would have absolutely forced their way off of bad teams in order to win rings. No one ever did it alone.

KD is an MVP winner who doesn't need anyone to do it for him. Bottom line is that all those questions end when you get the ring. Warriors are his best chance to do that, and fit his playing style like a glove. A core of Curry/KD/Dray/Klay would be one of the very best ever, and he would get a chance (if not likelihood) of going down as one of the all-time greats.

KD has already played on a team full of defensive grinders, and saw the ceiling there. I doubt he is interested in playing for 2nd place anymore.

I dunno, to me it's whether you are the alpha the team was built around vs joining a team with back to back titles and playing all time great 2nd fiddle to a back to back league MVP. Sure Bird\Jordan, etc had HOFers with them, but it was obvious they were the alphas. Even with LeBron joining up in Miami, it was obvious he was the alpha. He got **** for it initially, but when they won the titles it was obvious he was the main reason. In GSW, it's Steph even if KD joins. But, heck, Russ may be it on OKC at this point anyways..... I do agree winning as a joiner trumps not winning. I was just more surprised you thought it was even money he goes to GSW. I was thinking like 70% OKC on 1+ contract, 20% GSW, 10% rest.

Nope. Everybody assumes that Durant would only sign here if another star also did (or was traded for). But maybe Ibaka would suffice?

Or consider the angle in which Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka (or just Durant/Westbrook) seek out a team together, and demand that the team S&T with OKC. If we offered OKC Thomas & some picks/prospects for the favor (plus whatever contract filler we needed to send back to make the numbers work), that might be the best deal for all concerned. Ditto if Smart is in the package.

Boston is the 7th-best team in the league -- or 6th-best if we subtract OKC's stars from it -- younger and more asset-rich than any team ahead of it.

I can think of various reasons why "that team" is NOT GSW, LAC, SAS, CLE or TOR.

BOS is much better than MIA if we assume age/health issues plaguing Wade and/or Bosh.

Indianapolis? Actually one of the better choices, but David West notwithstanding, I like our recruiting chances against them. Similarly Atlanta, Chicago & Washington.

MEM? There are many ways we're a better choice.

Team Records w/o Kevin Durant (2014-present):
• OKC 30-32 (48.39%)
• BOS 54-36* (60.00%)
• GSW 119-20 (85.61%)
*since trade for IT and BEFORE winning the 2016 top lottery pick

I didn't know Thunder had a losing record without Durant. Some of those losses might have coincided with Westbrook being out. Why aren't the Clippers an option? (Or the Raptors, for that matter.) Winning percentage of the Warriors is silly btw.

If KD goes to the Warriors, who will likely win consecutive championships without him, what kind of legacy is that? If they win another one with him, he'd just be riding on everyone's coattails, like David West in San Antonio.

Also, who is going to be willing to significantly cut their shots if he goes to Golden State?

Young with assets are probably 2 things that KD can care less about. He wants a set roster with stars and experience. Assets tho? What does KD care about assets?
