I presume he wants guys who are more likely to get better as players than worse.

I presume he feels the same way about the roster in general.

The core needs to be ready to win. He'll be 28 yrs old .. Not 21. He has about a 4 or so year window in his prime to get a title.

Sheesh. It feels like yesterday he was drafted behind Oden. Time flies.

Plenty of amateur psychologists here purporting to know what KD is thinking and feeling.
OKC is the front runner because they can pay him the most. After that, who knows?

Sheesh. It feels like yesterday he was drafted behind Oden. Time flies.

Avery Bradley (25), Jae Crowder (26), Isaiah Thomas (27), Kelly Olynyk (25) are all major pieces in that core and are right around Durant's age (27) when free agency commences. Only Marcus Smart (22) is considered young and even then he's proven that he can contribute given significant role and minutes on a winning team. I do agree that we need to add another top-tier player. That BKN pick might be our ticket to getting that star on draft night via a blockbuster trade. And this Celtics team have to prove they can win in the postseason. Both tall tasks but not out of the realm of possibility.

Danny's targets: Kevin Love (27), Blake Griffin (27), Jimmy Butler (26), Boogie Cousins (25). Al Horford is 30 but he still has a good 3-5 years in him. This is why I think Okafor is a smokescreen. Ownership wants to win sooner than later.

Step 1: Win lottery.
Step 2: Trade for Jimmy Buckets.
Step 3: Have Butler and Marky Mark recruit Durant to the Celtics.
Step 4: Win championship.
Step 5: Repeat step 4.

Unhealthy. Rooster with another injury. God bless Danny Ainge.

In what sense of "ready to win" are there significantly better alternatives than Boston?

Only if he can't stare them down and get them to do a S&T.

Of course, that negotiation may be easier in 2017, when Westbrook and Ibaka are also able to walk.

The S&T rules have changed. KD can get just as much in free agency; i.e. 4 years, 4.5% raises.

Durant wears #35 in honor of a former coach/mentor of his that was murdered at age 35. Reggie Lewis' #35 retired in the rafters. Not good unless Durant is open to a new #

Durant and the Ws is very real, dude. Doesn't make it the only possibility, but hardly just my speculation, either.

Don't believe me, try Woj (written before the Ws core spent all-star weekend hard selling him).

Of course. But they also have drawbacks precisely because they're that good without him.

Who other than the Warriors (or Spurs)?

Correct
Jimmy Butler was the target. A friend works in the front office, the deal agreed to was Jimmy Butler for Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, and Nets ’16 Pick. Agreed to by Celtics and Bulls, but Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf vetoed the trade. The Celtics will try again for Butler in the offseason.

100%, I have no agenda to push, and nothing to gain from promoting bad information. I know people will challenge or question this, but I wanted other Celtics fans to hear this because when I heard it I was floored. The goal was to get Butler to attract KD as a free agent. But now the offseason goal is to get two of: K Love, KD, and Butler. This is the goal, but obviously that doesn’t guarantee anything.

No way Danny would give 3 top assest for Butler, Do not see this!

That's ridiculous. I don't see it. I could see Smart and the "16". Not saying I'd do it, but I could see it. No frigging way Jae was in there as well though. And...if the Bulls passed on that, they are fools.
