Re: Charlotte vs Indy Fri 2/26 7PM EST
I didn't see this game, other than the highlights, but I don't like the excuse that just because every team has cap space, we must overpay to keep a player we value. Let all those other teams overspend to get guys they want so that when the next round of players becomes available, those teams get stuck with bad value contracts and we corner the market as one of the few teams that played it smart and waited for better talent on better deals.

It would be interesting what Cliff would do with the center position when Hawsehole comes back from injuries
Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.

Looks as advertised.
Pretty good, nothing special, but plays within himself and responsibly at both ends.
Seems to play easily within the flow of the team.

Lee is exactly what you want in a 5th option. Stand in the corner, dont need plays, take (and hopefully make more) corner 3s, play good defense. PJ was just way too erratic for that role and Hendo refused to accept the shame corner. If you need Lee to do anything more, its probably not a good thing.

Pretty clear the NBA coaches got it dead wrong in regards to Kemba and Lillard not making the ASG. Both guys have been amazing the last 2 months and carrying teams that most had left for dead at the start of the year.

Lamb tonight...I mean I don't know what to say. His 2-6 from the field I can live with, I think he actually is doing a better job of moving the ball around and he's just not making shots right now. But man his defense needs so much work. He could not keep up with Chase Budinger tonight, and that should not be that hard to do.
For a pure shooter Lamb still isn't very good at shooting threes, just 31.3% from three on the season.
I hope he has a Marvin Williams-esque turnaround this offseason.

I'm just glad that Lin fans get to experience both Alfense and MKGfense, albeit in small doses. Even if Lin leaves after one year, you guys will have experienced the full gamut between the most exciting and cringeworthy styles of Lolnets basketball.

Missed the game had to install a new alternator. From what I'm reading we had control until the 3rd and Alfense was slowing the offense down by al's not passing the bong around but kemba and Marvin save the day?

Re: Charlotte vs Indy Fri 2/26 7PM EST
Chase Budinger is still in the league because of people like Lamb.
Lamb has been a disappointment. Bad defensively. Bad 3 point shooter. Has solid spurts to give hope.
Solid 8th man. Definitely not a starting caliber player.

Would you tell us about the game later bro? Pls.
Sorry, I was with a group of friends I hadn't seen in a while for a birthday celebration, so I wasn't really focused on the game til the 4th quarter.
The main things I noticed were that Kemba was getting to his spots seemingly at will, Al is mostly unplayable, and I pretty much forgot Batum was even on the team tonight.
I stood up and called game the second I saw how much space there was in between the two players that were trying to set up the trap on Kemba on the last play.

He has talent and attributes that should allow him to be a more recognizable contributor but he just doesn't seem to know how to, or want to, use them.
He has that crazy length but doesn't use it on D.
He's athletic hut you rarely see him sky.
He'd be best to try and reinvent himself as a Prince type defender but he just doesn't seem to have the "it" to be able to do that.
I'm worried about that contract - cap rise or no cap wise.

His outside shot is legit, but he doesn't understand when to take 3s. He'll pass up some that are completely wide open and sometimes he'll randomly launch contested ones for no reason. His shot selection inside the arc seems decent enough.

He should benefit from some seasoning and hes cheap.

Re: Charlotte vs Indy Fri 2/26 7PM EST
one of lambs bigger and less talked about problem is his inability to get to the ft line, that causes him to be a pretty inefficient scorer despite having a good fg%.
he only gets 1.15 points per shot, which is around 45th among SG's.
for a reference, this season Al is getting 1.08 pps and frank is getting 1.14 pps (both in the 60's for centers). which also means we cant play them 3 together on the 2nd unit, that low efficiency + terrible defense is a recipe for disaster

MKGfense -- I was expecting the high energy and quick closeouts on defense. I was surprised by his willingness to slash and drive on offense, with the ability to finish. Zeller and Kaminsky drive, but they can't finish. Lamb hasn't been driving as much as he can. This is an aspect of the offense that the Hornets are lacking.
Alfense -- I think Al provides an additional dimension to the offense, and it wasn't detrimental in the first half last night. Against the right teams, Alfense seems selectively useful. Likewise on defense, I thought Al was pretty good in the first half (I dozed off in the third quarter). Mahinmi wasn't challenging Al. Jordan Hill wasn't taking his usual 18 ft jumpers. There was one time that Budinger drove the lane that Al could've helped on but otherwise, in 10 minutes, Al was 4-7 and the lead grew.
Speaking of exciting plus cringeworthy, I though Kemba's distribution was fantastic in the first half, and then he stepped up in the second half when the team needed him. I think this is the perfect balance that Kemba needs to maintain.
Overall, I was nervous when we were only up by 3pts at the end of the first half because the Pacers hadn't really gone on a run. In the 4th, when the Pacers momentarily took the lead, I thought this was the other shoe dropping. Surprisingly enough, we won. Kemba deserves a lot of credit for taking and making the big shot. A good sign for the team as we head into the final third of the season.

Re: Charlotte vs Indy Fri 2/26 7PM EST
Second unit's defense was an issue in the 4th and then they all went kind of cold. The offense stagnated with Al being fed and not making shots. Kemba played really well even with the inefficient shooting night. But Batum has to be looked at now as someone who can step up but so far against really good teams. Money guys are still not Batum and remain Kemba, Marv, Cody to a point, and Lin when he's going right.

You're joking right? 25 million for Batum vs 7 for Lamb. And you want to use lamb to make point about an albatross contract? Get real
