Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
Anyone else wondering if Dwight fired Fagan as a preparatory move to return to the Magic? We all know Fagan acted the fool and played dirty during the whole Dwightmare saga and tarnished his future working with the team.
Yes.... Dwight is far from the player that he was while he was here, and maybe this has nothing to do with a return, but is the door open wider than before?
Would you take him back if he takes less than the max?

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
I would welcome him back for the simple fact that I don't think he should've ever left. I think it would be a good move for his career. At the same time in the back of my mind I'd be thinking about whether he was going to betray the city again...

It seems no team wanted to trade for him. To Dwight, that would clearly indicate that his agent didn't do his job, since any team would be eager to get him.

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
i am against the idea of him coming back. He is old, on the decline and frequently injured, not too mention his prima donna, childish attitude. He is gonna start causing drama again if he not the focal point offensively. The only way i want him back is he comes here dirt cheap and accepts whatever role we give him

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
There's been a bit of an exodus from Fegan of late. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
In terms of Dwight coming back to Orlando? If it moved us closer to contender status I'd be all for it but giving a max contract to a 30 year old with lingering injury issues, obvious chemistry issues and declining production issues is just not a good idea.
Thanks for the memories Dwight but memories they should remain.

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
Would be wonderful to have him back and an incredible upgrade, would give him the max without hesitation, but just for 3 years,no more.
Anyway do not think he wants to come back, firing fegan has nothing to do with magic.

I'd have him back on a 1+1 year max deal with a team option. Only problem is what happens to Vucevic?

He's not reliable enough health-wise to warrant a deal.

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
Not happening, magic fans need to stop this sentimental crap and see dwight for the player he is
also are we allowed to talk about the "Otis thing" here?

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?

Kevin McHale on Dwight Howard:
Dwight, when he signed in Houston, my thought was this was the best decision anyone ever made. He needs to lock himself in a gym with McHale. There's a perception he hasn't worked on his offensive game.
KM: I'll tell you what, Dwight came to Houston and after we signed him, he could barely move. He had the back surgery. That limited him to what he could do a lot. He's no longer a spring chicken. He has some miles on him. Dwight didn't have a lot of time....we worked on things. Hakeem came over and we worked on things. Dwight's mobility has been hampered by the back surgery he had in LA. All the different rehabs. He's missed a ton of games. The biggest thing about getting effective in the post is a low center of gravity. He can't get low. He's very upright. That's hurt him more. Dwight is not a bad guy or chemistry killer. He competes really hard. He wants to win. The only reality is, after he loses, 5 minutes later, he's over that loss. I know when I lost, I was miserable. I wanted to be miserable. That misery made me a better coach/player. I was always amazed when guys turn the page quickly. Dwight is not the problem in Houston but also isn't the solution. He worked at it. His inability to get low, losing athleticism has hurt Dwight a great deal. He won't be the only athletic guy to get hurt and lose some effectiveness.
All those things you just said, can he go somewhere, get a max deal and be the main cog or a main cog on a championship team?
KM: You'd have to be uniquely designed around Dwight's ability to roll to the basket, draw people to the paint, he can still rebound very well. He has a hard time on PnR. He use to be able to switch PnR. Dwight can be a piece of a team that can really help you. How many teams now are playing small? How many teams are going away from big time centers and playing differently? Us playing against GS, my biggest fear was Draymond Green on Dwight and then Dwight had to chase Draymond, that really hurt us. We had no answers for that. It's so hard to say never but it would have to be a very unique situation.
Dwight Howard Max Contract = 35% of salary cap (using estimated $92 m)
2016-17 year 1 : $32.2 million
2017-18 year 2: $34.45 million
2018-19 year 3: $36.9 million
2019-20 year 4: $39.5 million

...NO
“When Dwight told me he was an icon, guess what three names he used [to compare himself to]?” Vander Weide said. “Michael Jordan. Muhammad Ali. Nelson Mandela. "

....ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NO

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
If he comes back, the Orlando Magic look like the winners. EVERY situation that ended in a player leaving on bad terms (Shaq, Dwight, T-Mac) resulted in them ultimately saying they regret leaving.
It's a maturity thing. Patience is a tough thing to grasp at a young age especially when everyone is constantly kissing your ass and has been since you were 12 or 13.
I'd love Dwight here. He's still a top 5 center in the NBA. Put him next to Vuc. It would work.
Max contract? Well, if nobody better wants to sign with us, and it's a short deal, whatever. Gotta pay someone.
If we signed Horford as many seem to think, what do we do with AG and Vuc? All the same scenario.
As for firing Fegan... Yes, I think Dwight did this because it will help him in the offseason to shed that "I'm a coach killing snake" persona. If not for us, for the other 29 teams.
Come on back Dwight. nobdy ever enjoyed success by being spiteful.

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
The problem is Dwight is his ego would not be good for our guys to be around. Sure he's fun. Sure he's a good basket defender, but all the other stuff erodes the teams he is on.

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
The Jury is out on having him back again, but more to the point, he is a coach killer and the front office has a very...........very bad taste left in their mouth that is all DWIGHTMARE!!!! I can't blame them either, so at the end of the day....the answer is No!

Waiting for the Championship parade at Lake Eola!

Re: Dwight firing Fagan = Return to Magic?
I'm over what happened a few years ago but it depends on the price.
I'm not too excited about breaking the bank on an injury prone center who has his best days behind him.
