Easily one of my favorite players this season. He's productive, what more can you ask? Especially off the bench. I never feel like his time on the court is being wasted. This is why hacking Drummond annoys me so much, because the opposing team has to know Baynes is going to come off the bench and they will still be at a disadvantage.

Not that this should be shocking to anyone, but Baynes leads the team in points per shot.

Great to see Baynes playing great after a slow start (injury/new system). He will give 100% every time his number is called and is an absolute Bruiser. I remember seeing an interview with Duncan and a few other Spurs players last year and they said they tried to avoid him at training cause he hurt so much if his body hit you.

Funny how people doubted SVG for signing this guy.

Perfect guy to get at a bargain price

Baynes has been absolutely what we all envisioned when he signed here. Great backup center and has really hit his stride for the team. He will be a big part of our success in the coming years.

This team now has 7 real pieces to contend with;

Jackson
Pope
Morris
Harris
Drummond
Johnson
Baynes

Great job Baynes!

Yeah Baynes was really disappointing to me the beginning of the year (except for his screens, they were always the best ever)...
but his whole game has really come together the past couple months.
He is a solid core piece.

That 7, plus Bullock & Harper shooting 3s can play with any team in the league and win.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

I don't want this to turn into a argument, but while "all" is too much, so is "most." The guy was a very solid backup for the Spurs and I don't know why it would have been reasonable to expect an established backup 5 to become a bust because he came to the Pistons?

I saw, and stated several times, very early on that we needed to cut out the Baynes post ups and use him in the pick n pop with that 12 foot jumper. Anybody looks bad when they're not being used to their strengths. I think SVG was being too rigid with the system just figuring you gotta run the 4 out 1 in regardless of who's on the court and that the 1 in needs to be in the post. Now Baynes look really good rolling to the basket for layups and tip ins, and the pop out for the short jumper.

Quality when we got him and he's simply proven SVG right all season long.

Know your role! Perfect your role! Perform your role!

The signing of 1 man does not make a team but the signing of a legit professional can cure a lot of poor habits.

IMO the additions of SJ, Baynes & Harris were/are precisely what the doctor ordered!

You got dudes that don't work hard? We got the cure for that!

KCP, SJ, Mook, Harris, Baynes, RJ...you looking for chips? Them boys got them on both shoulders and THAT is Detroit Basketball!

You can doubt us. You can crap on the city. You can crap on the state. You can crap on the climate. But you will not crap on this franchise! We win! History tells you that.

When teams come to The Palace they KNOW that it's time. You gotta man up or get smacked up.

SVG has returned this franchise to the correct course. You wanna play? We ain't here to play! We're here to kick your teeth down your throat. Maybe not this time but it's coming! You can see it, you can smell it, you can FEEL it!

And if you can't?.WTF are you drinking or smoking?

The BBQ fan. I like this lad a lot. Also these little things he does and, of course, messing up his hair all the time. It's great.

Aron Baynes has been very good the second half (ish) of the season. He started off pretty bad and I didn't like the signing early on but I've come around. He has really settled into his role and seems to be past his ankle issues. Sometimes we (myself included) need to be more patient before we proclaim guys busts especially when the guy is coming off an injury and is on a new team/role. Aron Baynes will be the example.
