Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
With the current make up of the roster, which isn't that bad, who do you think we should target or have a realistic chance of landing in the offseason. Also keep in mind if we move Meeks and Baynes on draft night, thats another 10 million we could free up in cap space.

Back up PG, Greivis Vasquez, Jerryd Bayless?
A better back-up PF.

I like Marvin Williams a lot this year. The only question is would he keep production up after getting a new contract?

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
Trade for Andre Igoudala or Shaun Livingston if the Warriors are making a move for Durant.
Not loving FA this year, too many "meh" players who are going to get badly overpaid. I wouldn't mind taking a look at Jared Dudley if he's asking for a reasonable deal as he can shoot, play some small ball 4 and is a good locker room guy. I'd be surprised to see Baynes dealt as Stan clearly likes him and I don't think Meeks has any trade value.
If a team is looking to dump someone like the Suns did Morris, that's probably the best use of our space.

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
Nando De Colo and Ryan Anderson.
We need to get rid of Meeks.
This and draft one of Sabonis/Baldwin/Ellenson/Hield.
PG: Jackson, De Colo, Dinwiddie
SG: KCP, Hilliard, DRAFT
SF: Harris, Johnson, Bullock
PF: Anderson, Morris, DRAFT
C: Drummond, Baynes, Anthony
This would be a 2-6 seed and one of the most versatile teams in the league.

Svg recently said in an interview that it is always good to have starting caliber players who can come off the bench. If we had the space $$ my target would be Harrison Barnes, Mook bakcup PF and select a PG in the draft. If not, Jerryd Bayless and Marvin Williams both are also exactly what we need

Why on earth would we want Anderson so we have an even worse version of Erson of defense?JohnReese wrote:Nando De Colo and Ryan Anderson.

That makes zero sense. Right now this starting 5 is talented enough to compete for a title and is only going to get better defensivly.
All this team needs is seasoning and a beefed up bench.
It would seem people don't see just how talented this current starting 5 is. Lowest scorer is at 14ppg, and highest is 20ppg.
Very, very few teams have such a versatile starting group both offensively and defensivly.
Internal growth and bench.

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
Although it's a small sample size, I think it's safe to say that Tobias Harris fits the team well. I see him as our major free agent acquisition, it just happened a few months earlier.
Our starting 5 is set. Assuming Johnson improves into the starting 5, Morris becomes a very skilled reserve player. If not, Johnson can continue to contribute off the bench.
I'll be happy with adding versatile players and shooters off the bench. We don't need splashy names, just more depth. I think we can target some good additions through trades, similar to how SVG handled things last offseason. Teams are always trying to add cap space, and may be willing to part with quality guys who can contribute for us off the bench.
Key goal is to sign Drummond to a max contract, and keep our core guys. If we can get a few more versatile shooters and a decent backup pg, we'll be set. First time in many years that I can safely say the Pistons don't have many holes to fill in the offseason.

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
I'm guessing we go after under the radar/underutilized players just like SVG has done since the start. Its no secret we need a backup point guard and a big power forward. I'm not concerned about the backup point guard since the league has plenty of decent to good lead guards. We should get one without too much trouble. The real concern is power forward. There aren't many good, young power forwards in the league that will be available. Maybe we go after a guy like Nikola Mirotic, Jared Sullinger, or similar.

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
Lineup:
PG: Jackson/???/Dinwiddie
SG: KCP/Meeks/???
SF: Johnson/Morris/Bullock
PF: Harris/???
C: Drummond/Baynes/Anthony
So if this is our lineup next year with guys currently under contract, we obviously need backups for PF and PG. I assume we keep Meeks, Baynes, Anthony, Bullock and Dinwiddie, although any of them could be moved if needed without hurting our core.
So if we need a backup for two spots, even if we want them to be "starting" caliber, I think we are stuck in a waiting game. Free agency always starts with the big stars signing first, then the next tier, and then the role players. Since we are in the latter category, I assume we will just have a list, and see what shakes out.

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
First post but, I see no real targets honestly. I really like our starting 5 we don't need anymore major pieces we just need more foundational support. Jeremy Lin, Chalmers, Augustine, or sessions would all be affordable and impactful as for back up pgs as for bigs I believe our backup big is in the draft. If you look at the list of available candidates they suck.
Ryan Anderson will be too expensive with little defense I'll pass
Donatus motiejunas scorned the Pistons and his back obviously is no good
Maybe reaqcuire ghostface Ilyasova and resign tolliver and draft a young Versitale 4/5 with range and hopefully defense.
Rookies are valuable not only for their potential but for their contracts. Obtaining a young PF/C with shooting and defense should be our biggest concern going forward. Our pick will be between 12-20 imo perfect range to find a great rotational piece for a young team. I would let ily take over most of the minutes until he is ready to flourish. Playoff experience will increase every player on our roster skill level ( more so the younger guys) our present is good but our future is better I rather keep our pick.
(Sorry for the long post its my first one lol go Pistons)

Re: Who should we target in the off season: 2016?
I think we draft the PF/Ce of the future and sign a combo guard. Don't really want to bother wasting time with RFA's but I'll include them in my guess list -
Grievis Vasquez, Rio Chalmers, Langston Galloway, Jordan Clarkson and sleeper Nando De Colo.
Forwards - Jon Leuer, Terrence Jones, Marvin Williams, Dwight Powell

The versatile forward is at a premium which means overspending to obtain one better to draft one and save the pennies for the future
