Nope. I have little tolerance for drunk driving.

I don't think Lawson is as bad as he's played this season for Houston, but his history of bad decisions off the court makes it pretty easy to pass on him. He might want the chance for more of a feature role like Brooklyn would provide anyways. Any backup point guard in Detroit likely isn't getting more than 16 minutes on a nightly basis (outside of blowouts) since Van Gundy doesn't seem like he wants to play two point guards at the same time.

Scrub is a bit much, no?

I'd like the Pistons other sign (for vet min) one of those 2 guys for sure.

We probably just keep Harper ROS - probably sign him for non-guaranteed deal into next season like we did with Quincey Miller in order to keep some rights over him heading into next season, while he agrees to it in order to get himself a sure 100K next year before being cut and heading back to D-League and their 25K yearly salary if he didn't make our squad.

If Lawson cleans up his act we'd be getting a sure fire PG. This guy lit it up for a while in Denver. I just don't know his story. Fans will tell you about him but it really depends on him as a person. He might want to finish the next 20 games playing hard for a contract this offseason. Considering everyone has cap space, it wouldn't surprise me. There's a chance we pick him up but it depends on his situation.

I agree lets get him. Crazy Lawson is better than old man Blake. Imagine how good we would be if we signed Kieff too. I'm sick of this team and their play-it-safe signings.

This team desperately needs more talent.

This team does not need more crazy or anyone that would disrupt chemistry...continuity is the biggest reason a team like the Celtics is where they are at and that's fact..there's no real superstars on that team, but they have continuity and good players with a very good coach..Patience is going to clearly be the key for our fan base...clearly some have no idea what patience is lol

As for Lawson I'll pass on a guy with a drunk driving background for personal reasons...that and I don't think he has much left to offer..especially mentally.

It isn't just the drunk driving, it is the excessive drinking - he's obviously gone downhill athletically. I think we pass. We already have a starting PG, and we don't have to take a big risk just to get a backup.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Mayo hints that the Pistons could be interested.

They are most likely to seek short-term help in the form of a beefy power forward, which they lack even when Anthony Tolliver returns to health backing up Tobias Harris, and a veteran point guard.

Possible targets currently on the market include power forward Chris Copeland, who wouldn't really do much to diversify the position for Detroit but is a veteran, and point guard Ray McCallum, who remains a long-term project moreso than the veteran backcourt presence the Pistons are more likely to seek.

Then again, if players on the open market in late February were ideal, they wouldn't be on the open market in late February. Teams picking them up typically seek a good fit, not a game-breaker.

Point guard Ty Lawson and the Houston Rockets also were in talks about a buyout according to multiple reports, but the Houston Chronicle since has reported that Lawson would prefer to stay. If that situation changes, Lawson may be the kind of fit the Pistons seek

I don't mind if a player gets tipsy now and then lol. Rasheed was high all the time and it didn't bother anyone. Lions took a chance on Prater and it worked.

On a minimum contract the risk is nothing. Sign him for the rest of the year and tell him if he plays good and stays under control that we'll reward him with a new contract this summer as incentive. If he becomes a problem, just waive him.

I wouldn't be mad if svg signed him, but there's too much s*** around him. He's messed up too many times and hasn't done anything to redeem himself yet. I wouldn't bother with him.

Awesome.

The management will do the necessary research before they make a move.
