Correct. Signs Thibs, declare victory, move on.
Or we can just tank again next year, which would be in our best long term interests. Getting a second star to play with Porzingis is more important than a playoff run with Thibs.
Then you want to admit the 76ers route, which is what PJax wants to avoid.

I'm not worried about our future, I'm just wondering how long it will take until we start focusing on it.

You need talent to win in the NBA, and it really really helps when you can get it cheap through the draft. Overpaying for free agents never works unless you get a transcendent star.
We're not gonna win anything before 2020. It's time to face that fact and prepare for it in the best possible way.

Have to agree. I went on a rant about the 76'ers approach in another thread, where I basically said it's a good thing, as the NBA is structured in a way that limits player movement so it's logical to tank. Rightly, it was pointed out that having a crap losing culture for too long is bad as well. I say a "Modified Hinke" is the way to go; purposely suck for 2-3 years (with picks), then move to acquire better, good clubhouse players, possibly trade a young redundant piece for a similarly talented need.
NBA is organized to keep stars on the team that drafted them. This, with the cap, limits player movement, and for whatever reason, the NBA/basketball is a sport where having a few superior players goes a long way.
Tanking in the NBA is a logical approach.

Once again, you rather see Sasha and Jose? He's not the savior but fans want to see someone else try to do something. Sasha and Jose has had their chance and they're old.

Agreed.
People complaining about the Calderon trade? How about giving up 2 lottery picks, 2 2nd rounders, and $14 million expiring contract for the right to overpay Eddy Curry on a 6 year deal?
Upset that we "overpaid" RoLo, KOQ, or D-Will? Isiah signed BOTH Jared Jeffries and Jerome James to 5-year $30 million contracts.
Concerned about coaching instability? We had 4 different coaches under Isiah, and really 5 if you count Don Chaney, who was fired when Isiah took over.
Mad about losing? This years team is currently on pace to win as many games as the Knicks' best year under Isiah. Think about that for a second. The Knicks also had the highest payroll in the NBA under Isiah and twice won just 23 games.
And Isiah did all this while also setting us back years by giving away 1st round picks and consistently trading expiring contracts for longer bad contracts. He's rightfully considered one of the worst GMs in the history of sports.

The excuses people make for Phil is laughably embarrassing. This guy exiled Dolan, is responsible for every player on the roster, he flip-flops the game plan, made the horrible trade for Calderon, struck out on every single meaningful free agent, implemented this awful system that is dependent on HOF talent (which we don't have) to work, hired a novice at elite head coach salary, fired him after less than 2 yrs, wants to remove the interim tag from Rambis merely because he is his puppet and friend, and yet somehow people are still finding a way to blame Dolan and Mills.

Yeah, people's hate for Phil is starting to make them say some ridiculous things. This season sucks, but it would've been the best one we had under Isaiah. KP alone trumps everything that happened during that time.
We also had the Anucha Brown scandal, the brawl at MSG, and countless other embarrassing things happen to this team under Isaiah.

Can you explain to me why we're not talking about who we're likely to draft in June to complement KP? And please address who was responsible for the Knicks becoming CAA's butt boys.

So you would rather have the tyranny and total incompetence of Dolan making the big decisions again? Do you want the Isiah era to return? Are you that narrow-minded?
Sometimes I think this fanbase needs the insane asylum badly.

I agree the NBA is all about talent, but the 76ers mentality is not the way to go. Losing breeds losers. Guys who don't play every facet of the game. I think now that we are out of a playoff race, you're seeing KP being less focused. Missed a few box outs yesterday and just settling/not being very aggressive.
Look at the top teams in the NBA. How many of them have tanked multiple years? Top 4 in the east (Cleveland, Toronto, Boston, and Miami) haven't successfully tanked. Cleveland tried to, but they wouldn't be even close to competing if LeBron didn't want back home. Top 4 in the west (Warriors, Spurs, Clippers and Thunder) mostly didn't. The Thunder is the only one who did successfully.
It's more about hitting on your draft picks and development. Losing often times doesn't bring you success. Look at the TWolves for example. You need to attempt to win.

This is no where near the Isaiah years. At all.
People are very forgetful. I think they forgot last year.
