With all those stars being available in 2017, probably wiser to build up our team and try to sign a star rather than trading for one... but if all it costs is Knight, the #12, and a Heat pick, you'd have to consider it!

Actually a lot can change between now and then. The suns could have attracted relevant FAs after the dream season of 13-14 if there were any other than LeBron (and everyone he carried along). Right now we can't attract anyone. In 15 months, maybe...

I'd take Rubio before Rondo. He can't hit the side of a barn with that jumper of his but at least he's got a good attitude, plays solid D and he great at setting players up.

I was thinking about a player on the market available next summer that can give us passing, court vision, speed and great defense.......That's Ish Smith.

Yes, I would love to bring him back on a multi annual contract (probably around $32M/ 4 years) and make him our backup PG and insurance for Bledsoe's injuries.

He is young enough to be part of our core and he seems a great guy, hard worker and positive in the locker room.

I know that he refused to sign with us in the past summer, but our offer wasn't big enough.
Philly likes him, but they tried to trade him on the deadline with another assets for Shroeder...so probably they don't like him too much.

Obviously we need to trade Knight if we sign Ishmael in the offseason.

Who is that guy on Twitter? There's always good players in Free Agency:

Durant, James, Drummond, Howard, DeRozen, Beal, Horford, Gasol, Wade, Batum, Whiteside, Conley, Parsons, Jefferson, Noah, Nowitzki, Rondo, Duncan, Barnes, Anderson, Jones, Hibbert.

Curry, Griffin, Westbrook, Paul, Lowry, Ibaka, Milsap, Hayward, Monroe, Holiday, Gay, Rose, Bogut, Gallinari, Iguodola, Randolph, Gobert, Noel, Giannis, Reddick, Gibson, Hill, Splitter.

The alternative being that we just give up and not pursue any free agents? Taking a "we suck and we'll forever suck, nobody like us" approach isn't going to help the Suns get any better. Nothing wrong with using free agency as one of the avenues to try to improve.

Well he's quite a few years or a lot younger than those guys, who are all pretty much done. Plus, Josh Smith had a huge contract so know one was going to take that on. Markieff had a value contract.

Also, it may not be a lotto pick. Wizards only 2 games back of 6 seed in east. I don't know where they will end up, but they could easily make the playoffs. Chicago will get better once Butler returns but the Wizards have been playing pretty well, except for Beal.

Another great move by McD. But of course many posters here will never admit it.

Fans have to remember...

The season before this one, Suns went all in, tried to grab Lebron James and another Super Star...

Then last year almost got Kevin Love.... Then Aldridge.

Results are F so far...

But Effort is about a B....

The FO just under estimated the off court influences on the players.
They need to sell Phoenix as a home town again.

Who is an Arizona Native star player??

Or even Arizona college alumnis... Harden would be great to have.

Getting blown out by 40 by Hornets doesnt help though.

We should waive Teletovic with a handshake agreement with whatever team he goes to, that we'll get some good faith back in the off-season (especially if he helps them very deep in playoffs).

I don't want Teletovic coming back next year. I love his shooting, but he is HORRIBLE defensively. Seriously, he can't guard anyone.
He is a one dimensional player.
On a playoff team, like an specialist from the bench, he can be good...but on a rebuilding team he is useless.

If we land Simmons or Ingram and what will likely be another high pick next summer, you might find some guys who want to join a team like that.
We need to be very smart in Free Agency this summer. Aside from minor tweaks to fill out the roster, I'd rather we just draft and allow Bledsoe and Knight to return next season and develop that way.

I don't see any team doing that. We probably could have gotten a 2nd rounder or 2 at the deadline for him.
The fact we didn't trade him makes me think we want to re-sign him.

Someone earlier suggested signing him to something like a 3 year deal and then look to trade him within the first year or so. That might be the plan.

Might be time to move Booker to the bench for a game or few, he is fading. Maybe he is getting tired, maybe he is getting beat up a little being the focal point of the defense. He needs a break to refresh, start Archie for a couple with Price and let the kid come off the bench and recharge for the last streach run.

I think Markieff's value really depended on the team you're asking. All it takes is one team, who lucky for us showed up in WAS. He is definitely the best contract of the group, but has the worst behavioral issues. Marcus is the only guy I can remember being this type of headcase consistently (maybe Vernon Maxwell also).

Lawson I think could've gotten a pick for Houston. He's been awful, but next year is fully unguaranteed and he was damn good as recently as last year. The problem is Houston didn't want to move him--they wanted to move a PF, given they have 2 plus Howard as impending RFA's or FA's and they weren't going to be able to keep them all. Because they moved DMO, they were under the luxury tax line and DMO netted a first, which Lawson probably couldn't. When the trade was pulled back on, they were stuck having to buy out Lawson to get under the tax line. The rest clearly weren't tradeable in that group though for contract or age reasons. Buyouts were the only way out.

Moving Booker to the bench would be the worst thing we could do right now.

I wouldn't mind Ish, but I'd rather trade for McConnell, who is younger and way cheaper. I'm not sure how much Philly really values him, but I wonder if the Cleveland 1st would do it. We could then use the savings on a PF or C this offseason or a SF/PF next offseason.

Well the baptism by fire approach isn't really doing him any favors, hard to thrive when you're thrown to the dogs
