Will they be Pistons next season?
Which ones will be back?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
Blake -- no, because we need more out of backup PG
Anthony -- yes, because SVG loves him as the 13th man
Tolliver -- no, because we'll spend the money on a better backup 4
Bullock -- yes, because he's cheap and fills a role we may need
Meeks -- yes, because no one will take him at that price and injury history

I think we'll try to move Meeks, won't resign Tolliver/Anthony unless on minimum deals to be 3rd guys, and could see us doing the same for Blake. Bullock is definitely staying.

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
Tolliver is the first sign of the Pistons turn around from the Josh Smith Era. He plays hard defense and moves the ball well. I think he'd excel on the new team's look after the All Star break. Hopefully he'll come back soon but all this break time is pretty nice to have for him and Stanley.
I think Meeks gets traded as he has a great contract and I think he'll likely be packaged with the first round pick.
Blake will probably move on to another team.
Bullock might actually stay and develop for another year.
Anthony apparently is a great veteran to have. He doesn't play but he knows how to play the game at its best and is a form of leadership to the team. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays next season.
But I think you forgot Dinwiddie and I think he's not going to be here either.
Hilliard will probably stay too

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
Yeah, if Dinwiddie can't get minutes over Steve Blake, he's not likely to win the backup PG job next year, and you probably want a third stringer -- like Blake -- that can play sparingly and still contribute to the locker room (ala Joel Anthony).
He's going to need to show a ton to avoid getting cut. I won't be at all surprised if he's picked up by some team in a bad position at PG, and there's certainly still a chance he develops into a NBA rotation player, but at some point, if we're serious about getting good, we gotta move on. PG's that stagnate the hell out of your offense just don't work.

Meeks is untradeable. He stays.
Blake, Anthony and Tolliver will probably move on.
Bullock will stay for near league minimum.

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
I'd like us to trade Meeks, and I think we can. I bet if we have a solid playoff run, I bet he brings just about everyone back initially. SVG really likes Blake, I think all coaches do, he's better as a third stringer, but I think he's still effective backup for 16 min a game.I bet we keep Dimmeiddie, he's still a cheap, average third string PG who's 6'7 and under 23, I stick it out, look how long it took Amir Johnson to finally breakout, it would suck to miss out on that in couple years when we're hitting our stride. They might move Bollocks for a similar situation (Kyle Anderson), probably depends on Meeks, I wouldn't be surprised if we start the season with only 1 new player.

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
would be nice to trade meeks but if hes healthy before training camps, id be fine with him backing up for one last season.
i said yes to tolliver but only because if we cant find a viable backup, and he would return for cheap, why not. he seems to like it here. maybe he give sun a discount. if he doesnt, then we walk away.
bullock is cheap. why not keep him around one more year.

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
Meeks - Yes. I don't think the Pistons would give anything up to dump the one year remaining on his contract. Unless he's a part of a trade as salary filler I think he will be back.
Tolliver - No. I'm expecting the Pistons to get somebody in a different mold for the backup power forward spot. More like a guy who can play power forward and center. If Van Gundy wants a guy who can shoot threes at power forward he has Morris and Harris.
Blake - Yes. He will probably be back as the third point guard on the depth chart/veteran mentor role for the team. Most likely on a minimum contract as well.
Anthony - No. His unguaranteed deal will be cut to open up a bit more room. And if the team does target a backup power forward that can cover some minutes at center Joel becomes even more expendable.
Bullock - Yes. No reason not to bring him back with the way he's been playing over the last few games. His contract is pretty reasonable too. Unless he's a bit of a sweetener in a trade I think Reggie will be a piston next season.

Blake -- no, I think SVG spends $$$ on a PG in free agency
Anthony -- no, because SVG can trade him and the receiving team can decline the option
Tolliver -- no, because SVG gets a slightly better player and Tolliver perhaps gets overpaid in free agency
Bullock -- yes, because he's under a rookie contract
Meeks -- yes, because next year's contract is guaranteed. He gets traded at the deadline

i like Meeks as a player, but if him and Baynes aren't off this team by draft night i going to have a problem, for the combined production, they are not living up to the money, they need to get straight dumped, call up the lakers.

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
Tolliver probably gets a better offer elsewhere
Anthony either chases another ring or stays
Meeks isn't going to be traded without an asset and we could be looking to deal our pick with him
Bullock had his option picked up if memory serves so he'll be back
Dinwiddie is under contract too if my memory hasn't failed again

Baynes is easily earning his 6 mil for this year. You're way off.

yeeeah, i disagree. if you look at the money between the two of them, we will be paying them a little over 12 milion, for combined production of 6.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1 assits a game, granted meeks has been hurt, but those numbers arent worth that contribution. you move them you have enough for a max contract, or at least two much better bench players.

baynes is earning his keep and is a good change of pace player when he subs in for andre. bis contract will look more friendly going forward. you cant group him with meeks who has been a complete bust.

Stop lumping their contracts and stats together, that's just ridiculous. Baynes is earning his. Meeks is unfortunately injured and hasn't had the opportunity. Pretty simple.

You can't really be combining his production with Meeks when Meeks has played 17 total minutes this entire season...
Baynes is worth his contract, he plays hard at all times and he's a solid back up. Don't forget that we are not a big market or attractive location in terms of weather/endorsement opportunities, we have to pay a bit more to get FAs.

Re: Will they be Pistons next season?
I have actually grown quite comfortable with Blake at the Backup PG slot. He is not special or spectacular but he doesnt turn the ball over and you can count on him for a few good minuets. Spencer needs to go.
