All you Terps fans, you will root for my Hoos tomorrow, right? Please? Don't you want to see this guy get his teeth kicked in?

Sev, in THAT situation, it's called gamesmanship. How else do you explain Allen not getting ejected? And Duke came from behind to win the game - making Allen a guy who does whatever it takes to win... a winner! Just ask his coach. :nonono:

Yes, I would love to see UVA kick his teeth in. And 30 points for Brogdon.

Thanks for the support, Ruz.

And just remember, the "k" in Duke is pronounced the same as it is in Krzyzewski.

Dissappointing night in college basketball. Allen takes three steps, jumps and comes down then throws up the game winner for Puke.

UMD. WTF?

They just aren't right. The only time the offense looks good is when they put their head down and wing it. That pound the rock, no ball movement half court offense just ain't gonna cut it.

Higga wrote:Terps need to ride their size more. Pound it inside and let the big guys dominate. The game was put away late last night because of the rebounding and shot blocking, no reason why they can't carry the offensive load as well. Can't rely so much on Trimble dominating iso ball. Use your size and athleticism up front and just pound teams down low.

This has been my thought as-well from watching the last few games, the Terps were out-rebounded 37-27 last night. Sure Wisconsin was torching with 3-pointers, but it appears that the guys are playing too tightly controlled by coach. Carter and Stone could have destroyed the Wis frontline. Melo is now looking like a player who needs another year of seasoning, he doesn'tlook NBA-ready lately.
This team is not playing up to their talent level.

Notice something surprising in this box score of Marylands 2002 semi-final victory over Kansas? http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/boxscores/2002-03-30-kansas.html

Spoiler:
3 of the Jayhawks are still in the NBA.

MD with another weak showing this afternoon, I certainly won't have them advancing far in my bracket.

NCAA play is largely perimeter oriented. Teams will go small and expose Maryland as a slow team. Trimble not dominating the ball will actually make this team less effective than last year's less talented team.

Championship teams are much more stifling defensively.

I said above in November.

They're really weak defensively when Sulaimon gets in foul trouble. Lots of times Trimble doesn't stay with his man. Today so far, Layman has been atrocious at both ends. He needs to sit but Turgeon won't do that.

One other thing. Trimble lost too much weight. He was better bigger last season. He also had less injury issues as a bigger player.

I'm not impressed with Turgeon's coaching.

Maryland is a one win and out in the NCAAs team.

Yep. Turge is "just a guy" as far as coaches go.

On the other hand, the women are playing for the B1G conference championship on ESPN at 7pm.

I'm beginning to wonder if Melo Trimble even gets a sniff of the NBA. If John Gilchrist can't get a sniff of pro hoops how will Melo? Gilchrists sophomore year was better than melos been playing this season.

Yup, Turgeon's coaching really really has me scratching my head, more of my friends are beginning to point the finger at Turg.
Agree about Melo, he has regressed, IMO it's the coaching offensive sets that are partially to blame.

I think Turgeon's best bet would be to bring both Sulaimon and Robert Carter Jr. off the bench.

Start Brantley and Trimble, with Layman, Stone, and Dodd. Instruct Dodd to go after any shot attempts close to the rim. The big difference is Brantley's reliable three ball and his comfort level with Layman. Trimble's been trying to make plays all by himself and it's not working. Carter and Sulaimon seem to bog down ball movement, but they're superior athletes. I think they'd bring it off the bench. I would expect Carter to finish games, and Sulaimon, too, perhaps

Maryland has way too much talent to suck the way they did vs Indiana. Turgeon is not maximizing his talent. Quite the opposite IMO. Jared Nickens is playing much worse this season and poor Ceko isn't playing at all. I'll be surprised if there aren't at least a couple transfer requests once this season ends.

What needs to happen is lineup changes, team buy in, and for the Terps to win the B1G tournament. Very doubtful but not impossible.
