Yeah, I know that it's bad form to dig up old threads, but I was about to start one with the same topic. We've seen the competition. Golden State & San Antonio had their way with us.

Two part question:

1. Looking at the current group what is our upper bound? I've been expecting a second round exit if Bosh was available, losing to Toronto or Cleveland, but I wonder if I may be anti-homering us. We've lost some terrible games and looked poor doing it, but there have been moments when things clicked. If we could see consistently good play from this Heat team in the postseason, well, WTF, what if? Can we change the automatic passport stamp narrative for Lebron? On my best days, I think we can. There I said it.

2. Summing the expected growth of Tyler Johnson, Justise Winslow, Hassan Whiteside, and Josh Richardson, what about this team's future? Do we really need to bring in another star to reach the next level or do we already have the tools?

It's a completely different situation now gom, you should start a new thread and poll about how close we currently are.

We already got the PG and Center we once prayed for, and even the bench looks promising going forward, I think the question now becomes - how close are we to contending, and is another free agent star required.

My impression is that we got 3 pieces to add to DWade, Deng, & Haslem:

Goran Dragic
Hassan Whiteside
Joe Johnson

And lost 1 (for now):

Chris Bosh

Add to that some new decent bench players:

STAT, Winslow, Richardson

Along with McRoberts & Tyler Johnson (who should be ready sometime in April) who were here before.

Plus a streaky bench shooter Gerald Green who may be positive or negative, depending on the night.

Let's see how things go this week. If we sweep the Bucks, Bulls, and Raptors, I'm going to get ready to go all in, just like the Cavs:
