Also, even though they're roughly the same in age, Valentine has significantly more college game experience (140 vs 91 games). That's more than a full season. So Dunn has close to the same stats with significantly less experience and with less support around him.
That being said, Valentine is putting up some really impressive numbers this year. He's probably the better player now, but not the better prospect.
It really seems like sometimes shooting is overlooked a bit too much and the wow athleticism factor often makes people overlook poor shooting a little too much.
I mean, yes, close in most of the stats, but Valentine is better across the board except steals/blocks, but particularly he is the better shooter. 45% from downtown vs 35%....and despite Valentine shooting quite a few more 3s, he still has a better overall fg% as well.
Not that it matters in the grand scheme of the draft. Dunn would be a first pick candidate for us depending on where we land (though I'd be really surprised if we took him) and Valentine would likely be a candidate at the Washington pick or if he were to slide (doubtful since Michigan St is a likely final four team so he will get a lot of exposure), the Cavs pick.
