Coming off the health scare, I think it would be easy to sell him on a scaled back role leading the second unit. I think Hassan is ready to come back to the starting lineup. Especially with the addition of a legit shooting threat in JJ. I think Bosh would make for a great fit with the likes of Deng, Winslow, J Rich, and Dragic. Good rebounder's, defender's and player's that like to defer.

I think Whiteside would prefer to come of the bench. He doesn't get to do anything those first few minutes if he starts but the first few minutes off the bench he gets to dominate.

The problem we have is we already are paying max for one center and the only reason Whiteside has gotten to shine is the absence of Bosh leading to more mins and more shots which he has capitalized on. Again Bosh is our franchise player, our starter, one of our faces. For that reason no way Whiteside takes a one year deal like some argued.

Also the return of Bosh this season will all but kill any hope lets say "optimistic" people have that Whiteside will decide to sign with us. Bosh will come back as a starter just like Wade did after his injury. Ironically the same could not be said about Whiteside. Bosh will get more mins than Amare. Bosh if healthy will finish game on the court not on the bench. Deng is playing better than Bosh at pf so the player who will have his mins reduced is unfortunately our unrestricted free agent Whiteside. Bosh is under contract for the long term, Whiteside is not. Thats the real reason we are reluctant to play Bosh if he gets medical clearance. Bosh return kills what ever little chance we still have that Whiteside might consider us.

Teams will not only throw Whiteside the max but will want him to be one of the faces of there franchise, we in contrast are looking for a paycut and realistically want him to continue to play off the bench since playing Bosh/Whiteside tandem at the same time has not been as productive. Its one of those never say never but honestly the writing has been on the wall for months now...

With regards to Whiteside I don't understand why you are so sure. I think that he'll be given a max contract by us and I think he deserves a max contract.

Dont get me wrong i would love to have Whiteside stay with us but looking at this objectively it seems unlikely. Pat is after Durant say 2017, even with the cap going up a roster of Bosh( max) Whiteside (max) Dragic and Wade we will have a hard time making the math work. Again its totally possible that we get lucky and Whiteside decides to sign with us but realistically its doubtful.

Take JJ as an example. We want to keep him long term so we go out of our way to make him feel loved and comfortable here. Without knowing the system he not only starts, which is important to players but he also finishes games. He gets plays run for him from the start. We make an effort to make him part of the offense. We are doing everything literally throwing everything and the kitchen sink to make him feel important and valuable to us long term. Then look at how we treat Whiteside.

I guess you just interpret the situation different to me.

JJ is a wily old vet.

Hassan is a young up and coming superstar.

IMO too many people are reading too much bad into the whiteside off the bench situation.

He's been playing exceptionally well since the break. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The real Bosh issue isn't pace or style, it's position.

In todays NBA, Bosh is a Center. He's MUCH better as a center then as a PF.

A lot more effective.

Problem is - Hassan can only play Center.

It's not ideal, to say the least, to have 2 max players in the same position.

If you replace Bosh with an equal SF talent (Jimmy Butler? Middleton?) we become much deadlier because our talent will be spread out on all 5 positions, and all could get big minutes playing together.

Yeah if Bosh comes back I see him replacing Amare at C and we probably try to play some Whiteside/Bosh frontcourt.
