Re: 2016 Draft and NCAA Conference Tourney Week
Man, Cats were balling in the first half today and then let Colorado get back in it down the stretch. We better use the rest of the PAC-12 Tourney to get right for the big dance.

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

That's a haul of talent. I want Sabonis though. He would be the ultimate rebounder dirt worker for this bunch.

Re: 2016 Draft and NCAA Conference Tourney Week
I've actually warmed up to Labissiere with the WAS pick if he's there. Was very impressive against LSU.
I'd be fine going with 3 bigs with our 3 first round picks. Bender, Labissiere, and one of Zubac or Zizic. Since we have 0 PFs at the moment it wouldn't be that crazy. SF and SG should get upgrades next season anyways just by Bogdan coming over, so we wouldn't need to avoid taking bigs if they are BPA.
I really like Malik Newman as a backup PG, and he should be there in the 2nd round. Also, Gary Payton II if we wanted to go with a defensive-minded backup. I do like Baldwin and Newman a lot though. Baldwin has an ungodly wingspan for his size. Loads of potential defensively with that wingspan.

If we're picking 3, I still go with Buddy Hield out of the college players.

Labissiere will go top 5 when all is said and done. Getting him with Washingtons pick is a pipe dream.
In fact unless Skal disappears again I'd see him as our likely pick if we end up 3 or lower.
With Washingtons pick I like Rabb, Chriss or Valentine.
And with Clevelands pick Zubac, Zizic, Zimmermann, Sabonis...
With our 2nd rounder Felder or Payton.
I just don't trust Bender at 3-5....so many Euro busts. If a guy isn't staring and dominating the Euro league, why is he so highly thought of here? More times than not, most of those guys don't turn out, I know you can say that for American guys too, but, look at what Booker and the other younger rooks are doing in the NBA. Don't trust Bender.
Btw, Dunn had a shoulder injury, not knee. Don't like Brown, needs ball to pound in the post to be effective. Rabb, not feeling him, too skinny and unimpressive. I do like Skal though. My three are Ingram, Simmons, and Dunn thus far.
Knight has to go....... Dunn can come off of the bench for a few years. I want to pair some one with Booker who can take advantage of the doubles on Booker and get to the rack; that's Dunn.

Re: 2016 Draft and NCAA Conference Tourney Week
Given our outstanding drafting record over the past few years, I would be confident that if we pick Bender that he will pan out. If we pass, there's probably good reason for it.
Whoever we take I think will be a value pick.

Deyonta Davis seems to be shooting up the boards, opinions on taking him with the Wizards pick?

Looks as raw as they come from the highlights - scored more than 10 pts once in last 11 games, probably mostly dunks. Compared to Al Horford on one site, I still really hope there is a better option with this draft pick.

Nobody talks about dominating..just looking like a basketball player would be enough, not some random guy that can jump. Porzingis looked much more polished last year. Do you think Davis has the same potential ?

I like him and if Chriss is either gone at the Wash pick, or doesn't come out, I'd probably lean toward Davis next.

He's talking about Bender.

Which one of the following players do you think has the best chance to become more than a role player and why - Labissiere, Rabb, Chriss, Davis ? I really hope one of those is another Booker-like steal. As I said Davis looks like the least likely to me.

Well to be honest, I haven't watched them enough to have a really good idea, but my guess is probably Chriss if he cuts out dumb mistakes. Because not only does he have super athleticism that allows him already to be a great finisher and shot blocker, but he can already hit the 3. And with the athleticism he has a great chance to become a good defender and rebounder.
None of these other guys can shoot from that range, though Davis apparently has a good mid range game and is also a shot blocker. I like that shot blocking ability combined with the ability to face up and shoot with range, so that's why I like these two the best.
Rabb, I feel is more of an interior guy who will rebound and score around the basket, but with our bigs so terribly offensively that leaves the paint far too crowded.
Labissiere I have the least feel for. Typically when a guy starts out as a consensus top pick and falls throughout the year, that's a bad sign (see Shabazz). He seems extremely raw. Some extremely raw guys turn out great (Jermaine O'Neal). Part of me thinks John Henson with him, but I also see old comparisons to Aldridge, but that was before the season started, in which he has been a monumental disappointment.
So I'd go:
Chriss
Davis
Toss up between the other two

Bender should also be a senior in HS and is playing on a team with a bunch of guys in their late 20s and 30s. Brandon Jennings had a tough time getting time for awhile over there IIRC.
I honestly don't know what to think about Bender. I do know Jordan Farmar was released from the team he was on though, so it's a pretty competitive team (not saying they are as good as usual, but competitive for roster spots).

Re: 2016 Draft and NCAA Conference Tourney Week
^ Yes, this is usually the case in europe. If you are 18-19 you don't play over the 25-30 year olds that much. Seniority is a bigger thing over here for sure. Off the top of my head I can't name a lot of guys who were playing a lot while being 18, no matter how talented they were. Which always makes picking them a bit more risky than the american prospects in a way that you don't get to see them playing a lot, and pretty much never get to see them play against their own age group.

Re: 2016 Draft and NCAA Conference Tourney Week
New ESPN mock draft simulation up. It doesn't just randomize order like tankathon, but says who the projected pick is. First time I tried, Phx got 4th but also Bender. And in Ford's last mock, he had Bender 3rd (and I think Ellenson 5th), but in this simulation, the Sixers got third and took Brown (which is odd, because in a later sim, Brown went 8th). And the Nuggets won with a 2.8% chance.
http://espn.go.com/nba/lottery2016/mockdraft
In a sim we got 5th, Bender dropped to 5th because Milwaukee got 3rd and took Dunn, while Philly got 4th and took Brown. I guess these sims really focus on team needs, especially since there isn't much separation between about 3 and 8.
