Game 66: Rockets @ Hornets 6PM CDT 3/12

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Sat Mar 12, 2016 5:32 pm

Rockets have been on a nice stretch over the past few games! Coming off of a huge win against the Celtics the team heads down to Charlotte where they'll face Kemba Walker & the Hornets who are on a nice streak of their own. This is the second game in a back to back situation, but the Rockets may be showing some renewed vitality as they attempt to move up in the standings.

James Harden is going to have to shoulder the load, as usual, but he's going to need a lot of help from guys like Dwight, Ariza & Beverley. Bev in particular needs to bring his A-Game as I imagine he'll be assigned to Walker.

So who steps up for the Rockets tonight? Do they avoid their slow start routine and hit the ground running?

Go Rockets!

I'm hoping that Goudelock gets some playing time tonight. I'm hearing that he's improved as an all-around player over the past couple of years. Shooting the lights out from 3, from all reports.

Yet another slow start in the first quarter.

Second quarter was better, bench actually stepping up. Dwight has been really good on both ends, with how poorly 4 out of the starting fave have played to only be down 5 has me feeling ok about this game

Not to mention that neither Harden, nor Beverley has scored a basket yet.

Trevor Ariza is just so awful today. Especially on defense.

Trevor has left Kemba at the three point line about five times now. He has no interest in playing defense tonight. Would rather see KJ

The whole team (minus Beasley) is totally gassed. Add in that the Hornets can't miss and this one is looking like a loss. Too bad, because they could have taken advantage of the Dallas loss today.

But who knows. Harden could still wake up for a few minutes.

Harden is running on fumes. We have to stop playing him so many minutes. You can see by his body language he's just exhausted. Charlotte has also been hot lately. Only lost three games since January 29

This was also a road back to back at the end of the road trip

One of my favorite players. Haven't watched the game and I see the box score he had an excellent scoring game.

2 ?s though

Why 15min when he is clearly one of your better players?

-28 plus minus tonight? what kinda terrible lineups is he out there with? And how has his defense been?

What a mess. This game again showed if Harden is off so are the Rockets. On defense Ariza was getting out worked by Williams and Terry and Beverley were terrible. Beverley simply is not the same defender anymore. He is a step slow and falls for to many fakes off the dribble. Morey made a big mistake by giving him that contract.

He is pretty much useless if his three ball is not falling. Only positive was Beastley again and Brewer played solid.Got seriously exposed tonight. That two minute stretch at the start of 4th with Terry just just playing stupid on both ends was the killer. A 3 point Hornets lead turned into a 12 point lead and they just got hot again and we got smashed.

Beverley is still the same defender, or same type...he is great on ball, individual defender, ball hawk, pesky, however, he is never a great team defender, a couple of PnRs, he is a toast... he might slow down a little, but still worth his contract, he has values, but only when the team knows how to use him, you can't expect Pat to do that 94 feet lockdown defense all the time, nobody can do that...the problem is the team is lack of sounding defensive schemes... last year's success on defense was a gimmick, teams now know what rockets are gearing at and they let them pay, see those back door gimmes after aimless doubling, gambling.... the ball hunting style defense is not a good defense, rockets still leads on steals, creating TOs, offensive rebounding etc... however, lousy defensive teams value those stats ... good defensive teams value defensive rebounding, the rockets is full of good to great rebounders, Dwight, Cappella, Jones, Harden, Beverley... it is a shame that they are ranked second to last in defensive rebounding rate... JBB has to go, he is not the answer, he is the problem
Hi Clutchie, I love you... :kiss
