I think we've seen a lot of evidence this season that Cliff knows how to manage a rotation.

I think we would have let Biz go because, like I've said a good bit, we are strong in every area that he is strong in and we need a more diverse skillset on the roster, specifically when it comes to more facilitators. Having a big that can create offense just by passing the ball is a breath of fresh air.

Biz would have had Hansbrough's role, which is barely see the court. So its for the best that he moved on

Cs really hurting without Jae Crowder. About to get their third loss in a role. This slide continues, so much for Brad Stevens chances at Coach of the Year.

We allow the 4th fewest shots in the paint in the league.

I know, I know. We've had this talk over and over before. Our guards have to sink in to help the bigs. Where do we rank in 3pt attempts against us?

Very high, but that's not because of missing Biz. Our starters allowed fewer than 18 3s attempted per 100 possessions in 2013-14 and 2014-15, top 5 both seasons. This season they are allowing 31.5.

It's not a defensive scheme issue, as demonstrated by our excelling in that metric the last couple seasons when Al is on the floor. It has a lot more to do with missing one of the league's best perimeter defenders for the entire season.

Lol. Well there goes your answer and you don't have to massage it. Those other years we had Biz.

Go look up Toronto's currently with Biz while you're at it.

The numbers were starters only (i.e., without Biz except for a small portion of 2014-15 season).

There's nothing to massage. Those stats were without Biz on the floor.

Fact still remains that we're giving up a lot of 3pt attempts because our guard's are sinking in more to help Cody. We didn't have the sink that much in with Fat Al because he held his own but didn't contest anything. But Cody is smallish for a C so that's what we've been doing to compensate for it. I said it earlier in the year and I'm saying it now with a bigger sample size. Touché.

What about the stats that say that Cody is the far superior paint defender? It's not just because we dig to help him out, we do the same thing with Al. That's our scheme. I don't buy at all that we help more with Cody than we did with Al.

I think our subpar perimeter defense is far more attributable to missing MKG because, you know, he guards the perimeter and is good at it.

ETA: Our starting lineup went from MKG and Hendo to PJ and Batum. I don't think it takes a lot of work to figure out what happened to our perimeter defense.

I think Lance and Lin are similar players. They need teams that they can run to be most effective, but they don't have the sort of undeniable talent that makes teams feel comfortable plugging them in as their top guy.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I think it's pretty unlikely that any playoff teams will plug him in as a starter. I think a team like New York or Brooklyn will be perfect for Lin and Lance- they'll be able to run the show and it'll be fun watching them do it, but they're not going to win a lot unless you've got four versatile players around them that can compensate for Lin/Lance's strengths and weaknesses.

Boston winning 45 games is a massive achievement for that roster. Brad Stevens deserves coach of the year just getting it to the playoffs.

Quite true. Lin is evolving tho, and taking care of his weaknesses. Lance can be somewhat of a headcase too.

OTOH, the Rockets did plug Lin in as their top guy, it's just that the Harden trade happened.

Ultimately, I think Lin's best to be mainly a passer rather than a scorer. He definitely needs a good PnR big to be most effective.
