Huh? It'll be walking distance to Old World 3rd Street which has several restaurants/bars.

too far for me when its cold plus its the opposite direction of my car so nope

I'm guessing the new owners were sitting in Bel Aire and thinking "we need a cool, original design. Hmmm..."

Precisely. You could easily do a skywalk link into this thing.

Nothing says rust belt like adding a bunch of **** that makes a brand new building look like it's covered in rust.

This is exactly why I wanted something modern and not old school because we get **** who go all the way over to industrial and we end up with this steaming pile of ****.

Whether you like the renderings or not, you must live a sad life if you get this worked up about it haha.

That's the part that is an open question. It does look like a beer barrel from the outside in the renderings but might look really good when done.

Or it could look like a rusting industrial building which would be bad. Certainly higher risk elements here with this thing.

Yeah, I'm not liking the In-and-Out Burger boomerang design.

I wish they would've done a design similar to the Magic's arena which is phenomenal both inside and out.

You clearly don't understand the meaning of 'cookie cutter.' There are gripes one can have with the design, but the images clearly depict a one-of-a-kind building.

Personally, I think it looks pretty interesting. Not sold on the rusted exterior but the lobby looks awesome.

I'm actually a fan of the rusted exterior...it's a bold design and the rusted look, I think, ties in the new and old (without looking cheap like the convention center).

Hopefully I get to visit it during a June playoff game. You have some nice beer festivals there, right?

I remember the CorTen steel fad of the 1970s. May still be going on, I don't know. During my misspent youth I walked past the building at Cornell derisively known as "Old Rusty" many times. Its CorTen cladding was a drippy mess of crap-colored streaks back then.I assume the patination/faux-weathering technology is better now.

Despite my beer barrel joke, I do kind of like the design. This is a building to have fun in, so cut loose from boring rectilinearity and have some fun with it.

All this talk about walking in cold weather.....has any one ever figured out how many home games were played when the weather outside the arena was below zero the last, say, five seasons? How about below 10 degrees? Below 20?

Your takes are on point here Sid! I thought beer barrel immediately too, but I dont think of it as a negative. Where others see rust I see wood.

That's a moot point. Skywalks would be convenient and keep people within the complex to maximize revenue. If done properly and incorporated from the beginning they can be aesthetically pleasing. Every piece of the new development should be connected.

I like the design. The exterior looks like a hard court wrapped around the one side. Even if you don't like the design, it's certainly original. I'm sick of all these new "modern" arenas and stadiums being built that are 99% glass and windows.

A bit OT, but an interesting bit of history: CorTen @ Cornell
