She's thought about it certain nights as I bypass the $25 lots looking for something for $10 if possible. The good part is my kids understand we make the 12 block walk when I take them to games. Then again they're also wearing jerseys of traded Bucks so they get the program.

12 blocks? If you get there at 6:00 park on the north side of McKinley, if there are no spots there try MLK from McKinley to Cherry. if still no, then park on Cherry- guaranteed to find a spot there and that is only 6 blocks away at most.

12 blocks, uphill both ways, sidewalks covered in ice, in the driving snow/sleet/rain, 100mph winds, hurricane coming off of the lake, yetis everywere... idk why you cant see it

But much of that money will not get spent all over downtown. It will get spent in the burbs. A majority of Bucks fans don't live in Milwaukee. After the game if they're hungry or want some drinks they just drive close to home. That's what I do. But if you have food/drink options all connected to the arena many will take advantage of that. And no one is saying more people will go to games if there's a skywalk. That's silly. It's all about keeping people around after the game. For those that want to walk to Water St. or somewhere else in the area, great. You can still do that. For those that don't want to do that and just leave the area there should be options that make you want to stay around after the game. Or come down earlier before the game.

What does that have to do with skywalks? Are you proposing a network of skywalks right near the arena? Connecting to what?

They are building a complex where the BC is right now. That can be connected to the MECCA which can be connected to the Convention Center which is connected to the Hyatt. The parking structure can be connected to the Moderne and then to Aloft. It takes a lot of planning but a lot of it would be started just by connect the parking structure to the arena and that to the new developments.

This. I'm not talking about a stand alone arena and a parking structure. What they have in Minneapolis is awesome.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm just not seeing it. Will a huge number of people be coming from the Hyatt area? So you are at major goolsbys. You have to walk to cross south. Go east to the Hyatt entrance, Cross to the convention center, to the Mecca to the new complex to the arena. Or you can say f it and just walk 3 block. It makes sense if it's downtown where these skywalks will be used throughout the day but it just seems excessive when you are all spread out. Are you going to redo the Mecca for a skywalk from the new building? Then don't you still have to connect it to the convention center? How do you get from oneside of the Mecca to the other since they have their own events and don't have the space to block off interior tunnels.

I wish they would've taken the Marquette/Miller Park approach where you have beautiful brick and stone that allows it to fit in MIlwaukee and look like it will be something that lasts centuries while incorporating glass and painted to make it look modern. I'm too conservative for this look. It probably all depends how the brick/stone(?) looks in person.

This is what I was hoping for as well. Something like Miller Park would fit so much better.

With that said, I don't hate the design. I guess I have to see how that zinc looks in real life and how it holds up. If it gets dark and rusty like the Barclays Center, then it's gonna look terrible.

Interior looks nice, but I don't know about those big open areas up in the corners. Looks odd to me.

As others said, no reason it shouldn't have a skywalk connecting the parking structure to the arena.

Barclays Center reminds me of a rusty cruise ship from an aerial view.

That's the part that is an open question. It does look like a beer barrel from the outside in the renderings but might look really good when done.

Or it could look like a rusting industrial building which would be bad. Certainly higher risk elements here with this thing.

(Wish you guys hadn't said the hairpiece thing. Have to admit that now is sticking with me)

I remember the CorTen steel fad of the 1970s. May still be going on, I don't know. During my misspent youth I walked past the building at Cornell derisively known as "Old Rusty" many times. Its CorTen cladding was a drippy mess of crap-colored streaks back then.I assume the patination/faux-weathering technology is better now.

Despite my beer barrel joke, I do kind of like the design. This is a building to have fun in, so cut loose from boring rectilinearity and have some fun with it.

Your takes are on point here Sid! I thought beer barrel immediately too, but I dont think of it as a negative. Where others see rust I see wood.
It does look like wood in these renderings. I actually like that look. I guess we'll see how it looks in real life and when it ages.

I don't have strong feelings about it one way or another. If the team is winning championships, the outside of the bldg doesn't mean much to me. If the team sucks, it will be a rusty beer barrel to many.

For those walking, the area between Mckinley and Cherry is gold. We usually walk less than six blocks. Ale Asylum is maybe 3-4 minutes out of the way if we want to have dinner before the game.

i like it (big fan of barclays too)

not a fan of super modern architecture/suburban sprawl looking crap. love that it blends in with milwaukee's architectural style.

once again, are there a couple things i would do differently? sure. but so would every other bucks fan.

can't wait to see more.

Will the players have indoor/underground parking like the United Center?

I know that can't go too far underground, but not sure what the limit is.

The best arena in the NBA is mavs' house...american airlines center.
Other than that, i think that barclays center of the nets is pretty amazing as a building.
I like the photos of milwaukee's arena, it reminds me of barclays in a way.

I don't love nor hate these renderings of the exterior, but i do care much more about how the interior of the arena ends up. I'll spend a few minutes outside of the arena before entering, but hours inside. Everything from

Sight lines for all fans attending a game.

How the concourses are laid out.

There being enough bathrooms and concession areas to avoid long lines between quarters/halftime.

What type of restaurants and bars are inside beyond basic concession areas.

Hopefully the design being one which lends itself to trapping sound to make fan noise louder.

While my kid is to old for this now, there should be a fun area or two for kids like there are at Miller Park.

That's off the top of my head and there likely are other things which i'm not thinking about now.

On the street. Head north on fourth street. Take a look to the left down mckinley to see if there are any spots on the right side. Usually head another block to Vliet, go left. Can usually find parking on the street in the first block or so. Sometimes might need to park on fifth. Pretty easy, and I need a special spot for our accessible van.

If we get to town early, around 5 p.m, there is often street parking on fourth street in the 2-3 blocks south of the Bradley Center.

Hopefully the lighting in the arena is better than the BC. Have the seating area more dimmed.

Also, the ceiling needs to be black instead of a light color.

The best thing about Miller Park's design is the roof. Other than that....the term nouveau warehouse comes to mind.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

That's exactly where I park and I can't ever remember walking to 3rd street even once in the last 30 years
