I don't think Morey really thinks Durant wants to play with Beasley bad enough to leave OKC lol if he wants to come to Houston it's because James and potentially another max free agent

Oh no doubt but it's one more little thing Morey can add to his pitch. Zero risk only upside.

I have to admit he's playing better than I expected. He's actually taking some load off James.

Definitely, not sure if it's real yet though, smith was good his first three games back then went to straight garbage. Beasley has more talent than Smith at this point but still yet to be seen if he can get it together. He wasn't efficient (18 points on 19 shots) but all the bench needs is a ball handler who can score so I'm fine with that. On the Lowe post Morey said the reason they signed him was because the Intel us changed, when he first came back to the NBA and signed with the heat he said a lot of rockets players wanted him but he didn't sign him because bad reports about attitude, work ethic, and behavior coming out of his sources in China, but that Intel has changed and now he deserves a second chance

No Lawson or Thornton and this team has some bounce again with KJ and Beasley getting minutes.

Hopefully this translates well to the rest of the season.

Ty Lawson is fighting some serious demons and majority of his on court problems stems from his off the court issues. The man needs to get his life in order before anything.

I agree and think he will be back, but I do believe this team is playing better with KJ getting minutes. Same with Beasley.

I was very wrong about Beasley. He's seems to be a better scoring option than Lawson, Thornton, Smith and might be a very positive bump for this squad. Credit to Morey at this point.

This team has been much better with both Thornton who by all reports was a cancer in the rooms and Ty who as stated before is struggling with a serious addiction gone.Beasley has become our best PF on both ends since he has arrived. MOST PLEASING ASPECT is his on the court connection with Harden. Harden seems to get him going really ell.

If this isn't a mirage and Beasley really is a good bench scorer this is officially the weirdest season ever.

Goudelock hasn't looked bad in the past couple of games either, even though it was garbage time. He's a shooter

I am so mad the heat didn't pick him up and signed Gerald Green. Please take care of super cool and give him some minutes. I am rooting for him for life.

I don't think they have to give him any minutes. He came right in and earned them!

Def will be watching more rocket games. How has his defense been? I never thought it was bad in his last stint in Miami but some of our board liked to cry about every little mistake he made.

.

His individual effort has been stellar. It is obvious to the eye test that he's doing work helping on the weak side and the passing lanes. It's difficult to measure his man to man D since he hasn't played any consistently competent wings yet and it's been a small sample size. t is also important to note is that the Rockets team D is sometimes terrible. Every team member has at one point or another looked horrible on D because our team defensive schemes are useless.

I've watched his Boston game, bits and pieces of the Charloote one, the memphis one and the clippers game.

In the games we've won, he's often sent against the opposing team's second unit. Much of his shots came from matching up against slower 4s or posting up smaller 3s. He is active on the weak side help, he blocks shots and gambles smartly on the passing lanes. He is active on the boards. However, the sample size for his performance as a man to man defender is non-existent. He was often matched up against Jae Crowder on defense and Jerekbro on offense. He closed out when he could, got lucky when he gambled and all and all had a great offensive game.

In the minutes we saw him at Charlotte, he was going against Kaminsky alot. Cursory inspection of the +/- would show Beasley to be a horrible defender. He was a -28 that game. What it doesn't show you is that the Hornets couldn't miss and the bulk of the scoring came from Kemba Walker to close out the 4th quarter when he was on the court.

In the clippers game, Beasley was matched up against Paul Pierce, Wesley Johnson and Jeff Green. I didn't notice a lot of miscues that were specific to him when Chris Paul was cutting up the Rockets. Chris Paul was covered first by Ariza, and would work some pretty trivial pick and roll to switch to get Harden on him. From there on it was clinical. Rockets have terrible pick and roll defense and there's not a whole lot Beasley can do about that.

What's actually eye opening are the advanced stats:

Beasley has had a negative VORP since his time in the league. Now it's firmly 0.
His Box +/- has been the highest since he's started in the league, hovering around -0.4 (close enough to zero).
His WS/48 are the highest they have ever been.
He has the lowerest turnover percentage since he's been in the league.
His rebounding percentages are also career high, as is his TS. His eFG% is tied is 2nd best at .527, where his best was .528 from his time on the Heat 2 years ago.

So he's already shown marked improvement. Maybe it'll work out this time?
