Gotta say, I like our renderings better than SAC's.

I read the rendering still need to be approved by the city. Any chance they'd turn it down? I'm guessing not.

It would've been cool if they had released 3 different renderings sooner to see what the public response was.

For those walking, the area between Mckinley and Cherry is gold. We usually walk less than six blocks. Ale Asylum is maybe 3-4 minutes out of the way if we want to have dinner before the game.

I park right where water bends along the river. It's the same distance north but 3 blocks east. I find it easier to park, safer to walk (Could just be invalid prejudices, but when coming from work with the computer in the trunk I would rather park on a main street), and you walk past both 3rd and water bars if you are meeting anyone before or after. 0.5 miles to the North side of the bradley center and will be closer to the new arena.

On the street. Head north on fourth street. Take a look to the left down mckinley to see if there are any spots on the right side. Usually head another block to Vliet, go left. Can usually find parking on the street in the first block or so. Sometimes might need to park on fifth. Pretty easy, and I need a special spot for our accessible van.

If we get to town early, around 5 p.m, there is often street parking on fourth street in the 2-3 blocks south of the Bradley Center.

That's exactly where I park and I can't ever remember walking to 3rd street even once in the last 30 years

That is so odd. You walk out of the east side of the BC, cross 4th street, walk through a parking lot, and enter Tutto or Buck Bradley's through the back alley entrance. It literally takes two minutes once you're outside. And then there are multiple bar/restaurant options within minutes. Sure, when you're ready to head home the walk back to your car will be longer but its still strange you haven't done it in 30 years. :D

Interesting to note the differences between the original design and the most recent one:

I really like the wood looking façade and earthy look, a suitable home for the bucks whose natural habitat is in the woods. The design also looks quite unique, I don't see wood facades being featured in new stadiums and arenas.

I think it looks nice, finally a basketball arena instead of a hockey masquerade of awfulness

^It isn't wood, but it'd be cool if it was. It's zinc, so who knows how it's gonna look in real life. And how it'll look as it ages.

Because there's never been anything that's drawn me to 3rd in the past. In my 20s it was Water Street, Walkers Point, or North Ave. Now in my 40s we come out of the BC on 4th wanting to grab a beer and look around and see nothing so it's "you want to go to Water Street?" Nah, we'll never find parking. Ok cya

Lots of interesting opinions here. At this point, I'm just happy to be getting a new arena, period. As for what it looks like, the design, etc., seems more trivial to me. It's probably more appealing to the abstract-minded, artsy-fartsy types. Anything will be better than the concrete slab box Bradley Center. Definitely can't wait to attend the first game there, that will be an awesome night.

Honestly I'm more concerned about the experience. I want really good wifi and stats galore.

For historical projects, Zinc has the added benefit of being one of the highest performing metal surfaces, lasting for well over a hundred years.

No real issues with the arena design, just trying to enjoy the ride instead of getting worked up over small details.

I think Jeramey at Urban Milwaukee brought up a number of constructive points to improve the design to avoid dead zones on the empty sides of the arena. But, without fully understanding the surrounding development its hard to understand the flow and feel of everything around it.

I wish they would release a video fly through tour. They should be able to with minimal work if the CAD is complete.

I don't really want to see anything rusted. Was hoping for more cream bricks incorporated. The interior is what matters more and the atrium area looks awesome. reminds me of the McCormick in Chicago.

My first thought on seeing the new arena pics was that it looked like a fast-food joint from The Flintstones. Second thought: looks
like the log-flume that ate Rosie O'Donnell.

However, my first thoughts about the Calatrava weren't nice either (I thought it looked like a raptor having sex with a turtle.) and that turned out to look better when built.

Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction has won the biggest financial prize for the new Milwaukee Bucks arena — the construction management contract on the $500 million project, the Milwaukee Business Journal has learned.

Mortenson, which has its Milwaukee-area office in Brookfield, was believed to be one of at least three national contractors with arena-building expertise that were finalists for the project.

Bucks executives confirmed for the Milwaukee Business Journal that the Wisconsin Center District, which will own the new arena, recently approved the selection of Mortenson for the 714,000-square-foot venue.

“Mortenson is widely regarded as one of the top sports builders in the world, and their unmatched expertise will be an enormous asset as we get to work this summer constructing a world-class, multi-use facility that will be a source of economic growth and civic pride for all of Wisconsin,” Bucks president Peter Feigin said.

Twirl, you coming around on this yet by chance? I know you hated the design. Just curious, because the more I see the pics, the more it's growing on me.
