I'm surprised Magny didn't get the win at the end of the second round there,

that should've been a stoppage in my book. Great fight though.

Certianly didn't look like "intelligently defending". Glad Lombard lost.

Why is Mir going out first? He's the former champion.

You gotta respect Hunt. He had the professional courtesy to allow the ref to see just how done Mir was when a lot of other fighters would have dropped a hammer fist or two when the ref didn't jump in immediately. I know it's a combat sport and your opponent in most cases wouldn't show you the same mercy but that showed just how classy a guy Hunt is. The sport needs more guys like him.

It was weird going from Lombard eating a million unanswered shots without a stoppage to the ref stepping in as soon as Mir's butt hit the mat. Not that it was a bad stoppage. Mir sent no complaints from whatever planet he was on.

The reffing was weird AF in the main and co-main events.

Neil was getting wrecked out there by Lombard but for the most part, he was intelligently defending himself and was moving but I've seen earlier stoppages. Good on Magny for (show)weathering the storm. I'm Ok with the no-stoppage there but had they stopped the fight I would've understood as well.

As for Lombard not defending himself and flattened out, I don't get how it wasn't called off at that point. I get that sometimes very late in the rounds refs would let the fight get saved by the bell so I looked at the clock and there was a solid 30+seconds left and I thought for sure they would call it if Lombard didn't improve his position or at least defend himself. Nope. Somehow the ref let that GnP go on and I was as shocked as Magny was at the ref for not stopping it.

Then in the main event, I kinda thought it was a maybe called off a little early. Goddard is one of the best refs out there and he obviously at a much clearer view of the condition Mir was in so it was probably a good stoppage. But I definitely thought Mir was rocked but still in the fight. I thought his eyes were on Hunt and was ready to go Zombie Mir. Props to Hunt not going for the hammerfist finish.

Overall, I thought this was a decent card. Matthews/Case was certainly one of the highlights for me.

Two classy KO walk offs by Hunt and the Canadian guy. Much respect to that.

Lombard should have been stopped no doubt, that was insane.

Magny is putting together a nice little resume here: Lombard, Gastelum, Erick Silva, Lim, and Tim Means off the top of my head.

Honestly though, as much credit as I give Magny, it still just makes Demian Maia that much more impressive to me. He put such a clinic on Magny that Magny LITERALLY signed up for a Demian Maia seminar afterward. lol. Still an amazing story.

Not stopping the Magny/Lombard fight in the second was ridiculous. How many unanswered shots to the head without any sort of defense? 30?

The walk off KO is interesting. On one hand, it's a sportsmanlike move, not inflicting any further damage on a beaten opponent. On the other, it puts a lot of pressure on the ref to stop the fight, and you might get a stoppage when you really shouldn't. No complaints from Mir, so it seemed like in this case it was good.

Mir loses a few years off of his life if Hunto smashes his skull in even further. Hunt knows what happens when he connects like that, let that man walk off. It's best for all involved.
